Game day in Allentown!

Time to get back to work. The boys will need to play their game but be disciplined as well. I can see ASU getting physical and trying to get into their heads. Everyone will need to stay focused and not fall into the retaliatory trap.

They've said all the right things over the past week... now it's time to go get it done.

We just kind of ... stopped playing after ASU got their goal. Didn't play as well as the shot counter made it seem, but definitely played well enough to win. Seemed ASU did really find its legs until the third period. Really lucky to face the only team that played fewer games than we did over the last month. They're going to need to get a conference in order to put themselves in better shape for NCAA Tournaments.

The boarding major with 3:44 left was a gift from heaven.

Yes, they slacked off a bit in the 3rd but did enough to keep ASU down even with the goal.

I was not impressed with UMD in the 1st game but they'll likely be ready for us tomorrow. Should be a great game.

The PPL Arena is really nice. Great sightlines all around. The atmosphere was great for both games and the crowd was decent too.

Congrats on literally hanging on for the W. Total dominance for 50 minutes and then??? I am sure this will get straightened out as UMD will for sure play the total 60 and is much more tournament tough; they know how to play and win in big close one goal games! This W may be a blessing in disguise for you. Also I think the hiatus hurt you a bit. Let's go Q!

Thanks! I was impressed with ASU's compete level last night. They never quit.

@QUAlum... you've been hard on the 1st line for the past few weeks, and justifiably so. But here's something to remember: if teams are putting their top resources into stopping our top line, then we absolutely need scoring from the other lines which we have been getting. The difference last night (other than missing those open nets) was the power play. To move on I think they really need to figure that out.

That said, UMD has a very robust D so even secondary scoring will be tough tonight. Shorty and the D need to be huge in this game.

Once again, a play involving Nick Jermain to me last night, iced it. The hit he took resulting in penalty end of 3rd period, was a big hit and I hope he is OK....that was a nasty hit and that kid will not see ice time for a few games next season best case. I had fleeting thoughts of those final 00:25 from 2 weeks ago from the first BrownBear game.

Sad.

No shame in going out to Duluth. They are the defending champs and one of the favorites to win the entire thing. Truly no shame in that.

I know we only had 10 SOG in the first two periods, but I really liked our effort tonight. Duluth was just better. Our third-period push, you knew it was coming, and it was strong. Could have easily won the thing with a few bounces. That's hockey.

Super proud of the season, though. After what happened last year, I never have expected a trip to the Elite 8. And doing it with such a freshman-laden team, I have a ton of hope that we're set up to make history soon.

Nothing at all to be ashamed of. It was a great season and the boys gave it their all.

The future is bright in Hamden.

On a personal note, my daughter went into labor at the end of the game. By the time we got home from Allentown I was a grandfather!

Congrats Mark to you and your family. My wife and I love our granddaughter who turned 3 yesterday. :)
