Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017 Off-Season
Four more days until hockey !!
I am very much looking forward to the start of the season. I am hoping to see a good amount of growth from the existing players.
Here are some preseason thoughts and questions that have been running through my head.
Is this the year Aldworth's numbers catch up to his talent?
I am pretty optimistic about the defense this year.
I cant wait to see how the goalie situation unfolds. Shortridge had a solid season last year. Petruzzelli comes in with very high expectations. I am guessing we will see KP in Sunday's exhibition.
Maybe we will get to see both.
Our beginning of the season out of conference games are going to be very important. How much goalie swapping will there be? Or if the guy in net opening night has a killer game stick with him until there is reason to change?
I am starting this season with high hopes and expectations. Let's hope we are all smiling a few months from now.
I'm with you Bob... gonna be a fun year I think.
Aldworth: he has shown glimpses of his talent and it's been great. The problem I see is his consistency, Plus, why doesn't he play full-time? Is he hurt? In Rand's dog house? If we don't see his full potential this year, we may never.
Defense: should be stacked back there. Can Capt Priske get and keep the troops motivated? I think so. Upper classmen must lead by example.
Goalies: well, it's a nice problem to have. Rand love to rotate show my guess is that's what we'll see. The team needs to learn how they both play so they can adapt in front of him. Rotation early with the hot show getting the nod later in the season.
OoC games are huge this year. All Hockey East plus ASU. As we saw last year, every game, every win is important regardless of who the opponent is (can you say Robert Morris?). Those first 5 games are crucial to our overall success this year.
I truly think we'll contend for the league title as we'll have all the pieces. They key will be how quickly they come together and gel as a cohesive team. I'm looking for the seniors and juniors to play to their potential, and hope the sophomores can continue the stellar play from last year. There's a few freshmen that should be able to step in and contribute early on.
I think this will be a fun season with some great hockey.
The $64,000 question, however, is what are the new sweaters going to look like? I haven't seen any of the new uniforms from other sports that have impressed me. The photos from the women's game last weekend didn't exude a Bobcat feel to me. I really hope the men stick with the Bobcat logo in some form. I guess we'll find out Sunday.
Are you making the trip Bob? If so, you know where I'll be!
