Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017 Off-Season

Boy, this kid's going to come to Hamden with some big-time expectations. Is he one of the best prospects in school history?

You never know with goalies in the NHL draft but it sure seems likely he will be the highest picked prospect to play at QU.

Most likely a 2-and-done... hopefully we can ride that horse hard and make the best of it. Of course, he can't so it alone so the team needs to be stout in front of him.

Depending what Organization Drafts him, they may most likely want him to play College Hockey for three years then move to the next level (AHL). Goaltenders take time to develop, most NHL teams like to see them get experience before they get thrown into the big show...there are exceptions to some. College Hockey gives him more practice time and then 2 weekend games per season.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017 Off-Season

Good Organization to be picked by, the Wings are known to let there picks play and College Hockey is a great place for a Goaltender, practicing during the week and playing weekend games. I would bet that Detroit at least has him play @ QU for 3 years.

The GM was actually quoted as saying that he would get 4 years to develop at the college level, take that how you will. "We had a couple goalies' names and a couple went off and Petruzzelli was there with that," Wright said. "We got four years of him being able to go to school. He's got size, he's athletic. Obviously our goalie coach, Jeff Salajko, has already been working with him a couple of weeks ago out at a camp in Boston, gave us good feedback on him." https://www.nhl.com/redwings/news/r...-draft-including-a-big-goaltender/c-290146008

Do you supposed Pecknold and Blashill discussed any of this during the World's? ;)

This kid will certainly bring a lot to Hamden in the fall. That, combined with local boy O'Connor, should really create a buzz at the Bank this coming season.

October can't get here soon enough!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017 Off-Season

Leaves only UCONN to figure out. Do they still play in Hartford, and so we have to wait for the AHL schedule?

Princeton home date is wrong. UConn is 1/2 as announced by them today. Still waiting on 1 Princeton home game to be corrected.
