Quinnipiac Bobcats 2016-17 - It's 873 miles to Chicago...

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2016-17 - It's 873 miles to Chicago...

That was ugly. After a decent 1st period they got outplayed the rest of the way. Doesn't get any easier from here either. They'll need to dig deep and find whatever it is they're missing.

High end finishing talent is what is missing. They have out shot tons of teams this year and can't finish.

I'd settle for some low end finishing talent right about now...
Face offs and TOI of players vs production need review. 2 Face offs last night straight back to point shot score for RMU.PP does not know definition of wrist shot upon receipt of puck. Why load for slap or fiddle and allow competition to adjust. Sam Anas was unique with his slap shot...have to get shots, rebounds in front for this team.

Except low end talent hasn't been finishing on this team. Lets face it. This team is lacking talent that makes an impact and are game changers.

Agree.. not many changes on 3 lines since beggining of season. Couple injuries and short term fill ins. Confidence can take hidden low end talent to better production. Will never know if 3 lines remain intact since beginning of season

Tough loss, but even tougher quotes from Rand post-game ...

“We have to get back to our buy-in level back to 100 percent which is what is was last year where we had the season we had, we overachieved,” Pecknold said. “We overachieve just about every year when our buy-in is at 100 percent. The blind faith from our players in our coaching staff, what we do and why we win. Right now that buy-in level is at about 75-80 percent they’re just not all in right now.”

So the question becomes, why not? There are enough returners who saw what happened last year, there's no reason they can't fix that in the room. That's not really on the coach, that's on each individual player and the leadership group. Sounds like the guys wearing letters need to get to work.

Very telling quote there. This is not a team like a BU that can just show up at the rink most nights and win on talent alone. Quinnipiac doesn't have that type of team. If guys are not buying in and not on the same page then they are screwed and will see results like we saw last night and the sweep by Princeton.

I've been hesitant to say it, but from my perspective, the leaders aren't leading. The chemistry we've seen in the past few seasons is not there. Heart and desire can make up for a lack of talent but, as Rand said, the guys need to buy-in 100%. It's an obvious difference this year.

Matthew Peca became the first former Bobcat to record an NHL point. Assisted on Alex Killorn's goal in the 2nd period of the Lightning game tonight.

Congrats, Matt! And congrats to everyone at the program, that's not a small thing.

We made the trip to Pittsburgh. Locals said without Penn state tix were expecting about 2000 per session. BC game was very good. BC only dressed 17 skaters due to WJC but Q played together and well.
I agree the RMU game lacked intensity and leadership. One thing we noticed was that during a late break, Rand didn't appear angry. We both thought he was trying to have a teaching moment. Hopefully they return to pre Union ECAC form and take care of business this weekend and next. NCAAs are a long shot at this point.

First NHL goal for Matthew Peca.
What a snipe! So happy for Matt. He's a great kid with great parents. I met and spoke with them at length in Pittsburgh in '13 and I can just imagine how proud they are right now.

I think the most telling thing about his assist and goal is the commentary from the announcers. They couldn't say enough good things about his effort and style. Keep it going, Matt!
