Quinnipiac Bobcats 2016-17 - It's 873 miles to Chicago...

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2016-17 - It's 873 miles to Chicago...

That's not an easy game to play for a visiting team -- home opener at Lynah, it's pretty intense there. That's a really good, gritty win. I see a QU team that's rapidly improving. Very impressive performance tonight.

I would agree except I generally just accept that somehow QU (or pretty much any high-ranked team) is going to win any time they go to Lynah in modern times. 10 years ago would probably be a different story.

Was definitely one of their better games thus far. The most interesting thing to me was the fact that they took the crowd out of the game. Even the guys in the booth commented on that several times.

Defense was much better than it's been and that's something we need going forward. If this offense ever comes alive they have the potential to put a lot of rubber in the net.

I think Cornell is still in a team in transition that wants to get smaller and faster yet still has a lot of big physical and slower players.

Ho hum. 7-3 win. Could have easily put a 10 spot up today on Colgate. I thought we dominated for 85% of this game.

Finn made some great saves but the first two and last two goals he gave up were pretty soft. Colgate couldn't get up out their own zone all game much like Cornell last night. Defense appears to be solidifying but there are still areas for improvement.

Can't complain about another 4-pt weekend. They leave for Ireland tomorrow and have a really big challenge with SLU on Friday. Hopefully they won't have any jet lag.

Excellent weekend. QU continues to look better and better.

Looks like a really nice new rink up there in Hamilton. Hopefully they can put a good product on that ice soon because that team, objectively, did not look very good today.

Well Mark..........guessing that all four teams will face the same hurdle......although, leaving tomorrow gives them plenty of time to adjust to the time difference and the flight. They say a day for each hour of time difference so by Friday they'll all be fine. Plus how exciting for all the teams and all the fans that get to go. Regretting now that I didn't sign up for the tour myself and get to have Thanksgiving dinner at Winterfell Castle. Have a great Thanksgiving.

Friendship Four tournament could have important ECAC and Pairwise implications for Quinnipiac

http://www.bobcatshockeyblog.com/2016/11/friendship-four-tournament-could-have.html

It was good to hear Tim Clifton say those exact words, "This is a business trip".

Although we all know we have "struggled" (comparative to our record against other ECAC teams over the last 5 years) against SLU I feel confident about this weekend. This seems to be a setting where the boys will come out buzzing (An important game, with ECAC implications, and against a team that already beat them).

Wish this one was at the Bank, but I think this experience will be far more valuable in the long run.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

A fairly good showing by the boys but they need to bury those chances. Three or four wide open nets and a few other opportunities with Hayton out of position. Luckily it didn't bite them this time. The power play still needs some work but looked decent today.

Truehle had his best game of the season. Looked really comfortable and smooth all game long. I thought Duane had a decent showing for a kid that hasn't been on the ice in weeks. Really liked the hustle from Germain and Whelan too.

Take it to the Catamounts tomorrow!

ASN continues to set the bar lower than I thought possible as for how poorly you can televise hockey. What a disgraceful job by the TV partner of this tournament. They are so awful. Don't even get me started on their play-by-play guy. Is Taverner really that hard a name to pronounce?

That hit by Connor Clifton was not a major. I don't think the head was the main point of contact, the puck was right there, it wasn't blindside ... I'm not even sure that was a minor, much less a major and a game. Very soft call by the referees, who had a really rough night.

Frustrating first two periods -- QU's not playing poorly, just unable to convert on chances.
