Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

Greenway apparently REALLY wants to go to BU but we don't have a slot for him this coming year. If he's willing to wait for fall '17, there's a good chance he comes to BU especially if his brother hasn't turned pro.

Lets see what admissions have to say to that, wishful thinking because it lines up but not the case

Sam Anas is signing 2 year deal with @mnwild today, but There is good news for Quinnipiac. The Clifton brothers are returning.

Yes, congratulations to Sam Anas . He also posted that he will also receive his degree. Great accomplishment.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

So happy to see Sam and Devon given the opportunity to pursue their dreams. Also glad to hear the Clifton boys will be back. As we climb the ladder this will become a more common occurrence so we probably ought to get used to it. I say it's a nice problem to have. ;)

While the loss of Anas and Toews is huge, I don't think it's a devastating blow. Toews is probably the bigger loss since we've become a solid defensive team. As magical as Sam is on the ice, we have plenty of fire power left and some decent kids coming in. We'll be just fine...

I certainly can't blame either of them for leaving. Sam will get his degree next month so he's set for life post-hockey. While it would have been nice to see him as one of the premier forwards in D-I, he had nothing left to prove at this level. It also sounds like Toews is committed to finishing his studies to get his degree as well. Best of luck to both of them.

Am I the only person that thought it was insane for anas to be getting cleared to play when he was obviously badly hurt throughout the NCAA tourney. I know he was a big factor despite the injury but it still struck me as dangerous to his future playing days.

He was told by doctors he could not further injure himself so he made the call to play. Rand said it was a matter of pain tolerance when he'd come out of the game. Certainly better to have him 50% then not out there at all, just ask Kevin Boyle :D

Riga noted as a possible candidate at SLU. Other possible candidates include Providence assistant coach Kris Mayotte, who served as a St. Lawrence assistant coach for two seasons (2012-13 to 2013-14), as well as longtime Quinnipiac assistant coach Bill Riga, who this season helped guide the Bobcats to their second national championship appearance in four years.

Can't say for sure what will happen..........but, my instincts tell me that whoever they hire......will have some direct ties to SLU. We (SLU) have some unique challenges when it comes to recruiting. Carvel had the perfect set of qualifications for us in that he grew up in Canton, went to SLU, played there, and had a nice NHL resume which helped in the recruiting department. He could speak to any level of the experience of SLU first hand on many levels. As talented or as ready Riga may be.......It's a different ball game recruiting to Canton than to Quinnipiac. I'll never say never but, my money is on someone who has a more direct tie to the University in their past.

The hot rumor for us was Ted Dent......an Alum who is and has been coaching The Rockford Ice Hogs and working for the Black Hawks. However, this past week he just re-upped his contract with Chicago so that rumor has cooled.

In all seriousness, it has been an absolute pleasure watching them skate and represent the university so well. Best of luck to both of them.

Sounds good to me! Coming in 2016-17 I assume?

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

Heisenberg doesn't say when he is coming in for. Have to assume it's this year and they push Joe O'Connor back until 17. I'm not surprised about 17-18 for Tufto. I didn't think they were going to accelerate him anyways. I think 17-18 was the plan all along.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

Cutske is for 2016-17 per the Chicago Steel press release today.

I figured there might have been a chance for Tufto coming this year. He killed it in the BCHL, something like 65 pts.

@ChipMalafronte: Corey Clifton, younger brother of Tim and Connor Clifton, commits to Quinnipiac. He's a high school junior who'll enroll in '18 or '19.

Great news... and if the rumors are true, he may be the best of the bunch!

Last week has been good on the recruiting trail with Fensore, Kukste, and Clifton. Have to think they are not done either.

The banquet tomorrow night ought to be interesting. It's always a great time and this year should be no exception, other than not having a certain piece of hardware on display.
