Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

I'm stewing over what happened and trying to get work done. I have yet to find the words I want to use to describe how I feel about this, so I am just going for it here. I am very angry about that outcome for a few reasons. We could have easily been in that game but the puck just didn't seem to be on our side and we looked very intimidated for majority of that game. All I know is, I need to replace one of my robots teach pendants because of that 4th goal. We are losing a senior class that has embodied the Quinnipiac spirit so well but we have a very solid team returning and a pretty good recruit class coming in... Get these boys some very WELL deserved rest and we will be back in the hunt next year. Back to my old Boot Camp and 'A' School stomping grounds next year!

Speaking from experience, sometimes the puck isn't on your side in the national championship game.

They weren't the better team. They played better that night. You will never convince me that Yale team was better than that Quinnipiac team.

It means nothing, because Yale was the better team that night, and that's all that matters. But over the course of the season? Not a chance. That's not a slight -- you won fair and square. But Yale was not a better team that year. They were just the better team when it mattered most.
Well said, unfortunately for Q, in the end, that's all that counts. The Yale win was an upset based on the regular season records, but some teams come together late, as Yale did, and become better as the season progressed. The lesser team in your opinion also beat 3 one seeds and a two seed en route to that title, no other team has done that.

Biggest takeaway for me is that Rand, Riga and Cashman have to convince players like a Boeser to end up in Hamden even if they stay a year or 2. They need some high end NHL talent that can take over a game. That CBS line destroyed us all night and you could see the vast talent gap when they were on the ice against us all night long. Just having a few of those guys could be the difference in winning it all and not winning it all.

No need to feel sorry for us. We just played in the national championship game that Yale sat home and watched on TV. Sure, you have the banner and got it at our expense, but I wouldn't trade that for the success we've had over the past 4 years. Our day will come.

i'd trade just about anything for a NC, in fact, change that. I'd trade anything for a NC, all Beanpots, conference titles, anything for another NC

So see you in hockey east in a couple years then. Great season by QU, hel l of a team.

Congrats Q-Pac on a tremendous season, I know how it stings today, I went thru it in 1990. You're making the ECAC proud, and the team should be proud of your classy posters here.

Congrats to UND, they were the better team in that game...
Not much puck luck for QU, and the usually players that make a difference we're able to make stuff happen in that one game. UND's goaltending was also amazing, probably the best QU has had to face this season, and a solid defense on top of that made scoring difficult.
This one result sucks for QU and the fans, but this team has a lot of hardware to display, showing dominance not in one game, but in a string of games throughout the whole year!!
Keep doing what you're doing QU, you'll be back at the frozen 4 in no time, and you'll be the one with puck luck!!!
Congrats again on a great season.

I will say this -- I agree we need better players, but not at the expense of our identity. The better players all know Quinnipiac, now. They saw us beat Boston College, they saw us in the national title game. We won't be losing nearly as many recruiting battles. But we have to stick to our identity as a program. The second we sell out to our identity is the second we stop being so routinely successful.

As much as this sucks -- and boy does it suck -- we have to trust the process.

I agree. We need to still keep recruiting very good 4 year players but I think we need to supplement the team with a couple high guys that would leave early for the pros after 1 to 2 years.
