But the program is certainly among the better ones out there, and I don't mean on-ice only. Exactly why I simply left it as "I'll just agree to disagree", because the horse is dead and it's been discussed at length in the past (and I wasn't/won't be THAT GUY to go further on it now). QU absolutely has established itself as one of the better programs out there, as I also mentioned.

Congrats to the Quinnipiac Team, Coaches, Fans and Administration for another historic season.

Yes, we are all disappointed and Yes, we are very, very grateful for all that Coach Pecknold, Staff, Team and alumni have done for Bobcat Nation.

Five NCAA Tournament Appearances, Two Frozen Fours and Two NCAA Championship Games.

No one would ever thought this was possible when QU played their 1st Division I game (vs. Iona) in 1998.

Congrats and Thanks Very Much to all involved.

I've only been a Bobcat fan for 9 years. I've only been a hockey fan for 9 years. I'll let you connect the dots. However, I fell in love with the game, and this team, the day a set foot in the TD Bank Sports Center and saw the product on the ice. I was hooked, and have been a rabid fan ever since.

That said, the sorrow I feel this morning is for those players who give their all to the game. For the families that provide the means for them to pursue a dream. For the fans that support them at home and on the road. I've made a great many friends because of this team... true friends that mean the world to me. They are the ones I feel the worst about.

I'm having trouble finding the words to adequately describe my feelings about this. I personally would not trade any of the memories this team has given me for a piece of hardware in a trophy case. Obviously, there are those who will think I'm crazy (and some have already pointed that out), but I know in my heart that our time will come. I can wait, and when it does happen, I'm sure it will be even sweeter than I can imagine.

The loss last night stings, no doubt. But our best days lie ahead.

I've come to know some opposing teams' fans over the years, and you are one of the classiest and best guys around. Your post here certainly reflects this, and that your priorities are right. Congrats. on a great season. Will never forget several of us-SLU fans booing you/family after just completing your 7+ hr. trip to Canton for that playoff series in '09. It was all in good fun, and I'm LMAO as I write about it now. And, friendships have resulted from that meeting. I hope to see you next season.

What an awesome run by this squad this year... they made the last 6 months a hell of a lot of fun. It's too bad things didn't work out on Saturday night, but it's safe to say the better team won.

I wasn't able to make it to the game but did get to watch with dozens of fellow QU fans at a bar in NYC and man was that place loud when Timmy Clifton buried that one-timer. Seeing that kind of support was awesome. Combine that with the support down in Tampa and the outpouring on social media and it's easy to be a proud QU alum and fan despite the outcome.

Already looking forward to next year and hoping Toews and the Clifton brothers stick around for one more run. Go Bobcats!

Thanks Brian... you're too kind. I'll never forget that day at the Hoot. It's the memories like that that make following this team such a pleasure. I would imagine most true fans feel the same way.

I'd love to get back up to Canton. We'll see how the schedule works out this year as I still haven't seen that other rink in the north country yet.

First official NHL offer for QU's Michael Garteig came Sunday. Potential for six to eight more. He'll likely decide before the week's out.

The real issue surrounding Quinnipiac is whether the Cliftons, Devon Toews and Sam Anas return. All are likely to get NHL offers soon.

Obviously, selfishly you want those guys to return -- they've got some unfinished business. Realistically, that's not how this works. Can't be annoyed with any kid who decides to go pro.

Agree. If they all leave they are going to have to possibly accelerate some recruits or find some late uncommitted guys to replace them. Two guys definitely set to attend next year are G Andrew Shortridge and D Brogan Rafferty both are 1995's. Kevin Duane and Chris Truehl both become eligible to play after redshirting.

Dear Members of the Quinnipiac University Community:

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our Men’s Ice Hockey team on an outstanding season, culminating in reaching the NCAA Frozen Four Championship Game in Tampa this past week. Quinnipiac has been in the ECAC Hockey League for just 10 years, and this year, for the first time, we won both the ECAC Hockey Regular-Season (Cleary Cup) and Tournament (Whitelaw Cup) Championships and, of course, participated in our second Frozen Four national championship game in just four years. The team has brought great distinction to Quinnipiac, including elevating the University into the national spotlight and making college hockey a sport for which the entire University is cheering.

I also offer my congratulations to the coaching staff, including Bill Riga, MS '15, and Reid Cashman '07, associate head coaches; Jared Waimon, goalie coach; as well as Greg Amodio, director of athletics and recreation; Bill Mecca, senior associate director of athletics; and the entire Athletics and TD Bank Sports Center staffs. Most importantly, I extend my sincerest congratulations to our Head Coach Rand Pecknold, who this year received the Spencer Penrose Award as the STX/AHCA Men's Division I Coach of the Year. Rand also was named the ECAC Hockey Coach of the Year (Tim Taylor Award) and the College Hockey News Coach of the Year.

Our Bobcat Pride is strong and evident, not just on our three campuses, but throughout the nation. These are historic accomplishments, and our coaches and student athletes should take great pride in their efforts.

Most of what I want to say about the game has been said already, so I will instead talk about the experience I had this weekend.

As some of you may know, I took an overnight road trip with a couple of friends from New Jersey down to Tampa for the game. Aside from the excitement and adrenaline we had while driving, we were a little annoyed that the Frozen Four was being played so far from where most college hockey teams call home. I did not think there would be a lot of excitement down there. I could not have been more wrong.

The weather was perfect, the area around the rink was beautiful and the turnout was amazing. I was blown away when I first arrived at the arena to see the enormous Sam Anas picture. Soon after, we went to the alumni event at the outdoor bar across the street, and continued to be amazed. The alumni association has done a tremendous job throughout the postseason, and Tampa was no exception. Being among hundreds of Bobcat fans with a couple of adult beverages along the Tampa Bay Riverwalk was an experience I will never forget.

Tampa embraced college hockey over the weekend and provided for a superb destination to celebrate the best teams of the season. What a weekend. I am as proud as ever to call myself a Bobcat!

I second this post. I had a time down there for both games regardless of the final result. Definitely hope the FF goes back to Tampa and Quinnipiac is in it again.

I have been watching Brogan pretty closely this season and he looks like he could be a really big asset for us. He is very aggressive and smart, much like Connor. Also, just to mention Joe O'Connor has put on at least 20 lbs. this year so that is going to be very good for him once he makes the transition over to the College game.
