Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

Wow. Just wow. Garteig has now not allowed a goal for approx 195 game minutes, three straight shutouts. As a team, Quinnipiac has allowed only two goals over their last SIX games. Only twice this year have the Bobcats allowed 3+ goals, opening night vs. Holy Cross and the 5-4 come from behind win at Lynah against Cornell.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

Missed watching the Yale game last night as I was at my brothers basketball game....impressive weekend by Garts. I told my good friend 2 and a half years ago after Garts opened the 2013-2014 against Lowell that Garts would be a better goalie than Hartzell when it was all said and done. He's proved that. We'll see if he can keep beating Hartzell's senior season numbers. 1.13 GAA and .952 Sv% are MASSIVE  numbers. Both are better than Ryan Miller's numbers when he won the Hobey in 2011, to put it in perspective.:eek:

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

UConn is known to spring an upset or two in their building. They also beat Lowell and BC in Hartford last year and also knocked off BU in that building earlier this fall.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

As ThxMuch said in a text yesterday "There's no notion left to hold on to that these guys are overachieving." I'm a believer. I really thought this weekend would result in some doubt from me. It's still early but to have 15 wins already is pretty staggering. Really excited to see BU at the Bank on Saturday!

They might have been during the first 5 or 6 games but they are not overachieving now. They are just finding ways to win/not lose. A few games haven't been pretty but they dig deep and get it done.

I'm a believer.
I think we all are. If you're not, then there's something very, very wrong with you.

Of course, there IS something very, very wrong with YOU Brian, but we still love ya anyway! :p ;)

It's still early but to have 15 wins already is pretty staggering.
I don't think we can still use "it's still early" at 15-0-2 half way through the schedule.

Moved up to #2 in USCHO's poll after BC's less than inspiring weekend. Some would argue Q should be #1 but the fact of the matter is Providence hasn't lost since last season, no reason to drop them until they do.

The big issue I have with the poll is Yale being ranked 15th with a 5-4-2 record. More losses and ties than wins and their wins haven't been against anyone of quality. Mass (21st PWR), Princeton, Colgate, Dartmouth, Union... I understand ties with Cornell and Harvard look good and equate to a strong Pairwise figure and losses to Providence and QU don't hurt either but to only drop 5 spots after losing 3 straight including a loss to Princeton shows some bias among the voters. At some point good ties and losses only get you so far. Oh well, Yale sucks... I'll get over it.

It should be a B-U-tiful weekend at the Bank! #CamoJerseyPickUp

I was able to catch both the QU/Brown game and the Providence/Merrimack game on Saturday - both undefeateds looking strong. Merrimack's goalie let in the first goal on a dump-in from center ice and was a head-case for the rest of the game. It wasn't quite as ugly as the national championship game, but close.

Not too worried about the rankings; just hope Q keeps it rolling!

Maybe when you leave your 20's in less than a year you'll acquire a little class. Revel in your much-deserved win Friday night, but is it really necessary to throw in the gratuitous "Yale sucks" ??? Yale has been playing with injuries to several key players for weeks. Perhaps the pollsters take that into account.
That said, it is crystal clear that, at this point in the season, Quinnipiac is an outstanding team, likely, in my book, the best in the country. I have no doubt that, barring injuries to crucial players, they are a virtual lock to get to the Frozen Four. Furthermore, if I had a vote in the poll, Q would get MY first place vote over Providence.Yale is struggling a bit now, but when Mike Doherty and Nate Repensky are back, and Alex is 100%
again, you will see a different Bulldog team. So enjoy your team's success without feeling compelled to trash your rivals. It was, after all, Yale's late coach Tim Taylor, who played a crucial role in getting Q into the ECAC !!!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

Yaledoc, You are correct. Yale is a worthy rival/adversary. In many ways, Yale is Quinnipiac's older brother. In fact, Quinnipiac owes many debts of gratitude to Yale. Ultimately, I am grateful to have Quinnipiac and Yale Universities so close to where I live in North Haven, CT.

Well said. Thank you !!!

Easy doc... he's just a fervent fan like you and I (and the son of a Yalie). We are all grateful for Yale and Taylor laying the groundwork for getting us into the ECAC. It's turned out to be a really big rivalry that's good for the schools and good for the sport. We all can get a little over zealous from time to time... even I'm guilty of that. And that Saturday in April of 2013 still stings a little... ;)

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

As big as this past weekend was in terms of how dominate we were I think Saturday means more. There is nothing that the ECAC should love more than kick the P-I-S-S out of a Hockey East team, let alone a top HE team. It was nice to see Landon in the box score for a goal again.

Can we please talk about the one kid who has been doing it all for us? Timmy Clifton is a beast and is making claims for a Captains letter! He must have busted his A-S-S this off-season. He is always putting himself in the right position on both ends of the ice and in transition. Love the hockey he has been playing.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

Yale sucks

See even you said it.

Doc, listen, Yale will forever have that one big win over QU and there's nothing us die hard Q fans can do about that. It stings every time the rivalry is mentioned. The fact that we've had recent regular season dominance over Eli, frankly, is nice but means nothing in comparison to the win in Pittsburgh. Before going to QU for undergrad and grad school, I grew up a Yale fan and as the Eagle said my dad is a Yalie. I struggled through the Ray Giroux, Tim Taylor years as a youngster and have a ton of respect for a program like Yale, a building like Ingalls and a fellow undervalued ECAC school. So when I say "Yale Sucks" its in the same regard as Clarkson bantering with St. Lawrence, BU spewing venom towards BC or Alabama-Huntsville hating Obama. You may have your blue haired rivals like Harvard and Cornell but for us, you're all we got. So, like a little brother poking and prodding his older, more established, slightly more elitist brother, I like to let Yalies chew on some "suck-speech." The same Yalies that I tailgate with for the Yale/Harvard game. The same Yalies that come over in between periods of every Yale/QU game and talk shop. And the same Yalie who sheltered me for 18 years of my life. How sensitive you are in regard to some smack talk is on you. It's college sports, not a 6 year olds soccer game. If my intent was to get under the skin of at least one Eli faithful, I think I've succeeded but don't think for a second it's out of disrespect. It's merely more a poke and a prod continuing an Allain-denied rivalry.

He's got my vote. He plays such a good two way game, combining the physical with the finesse. This has been a transformative year for both Cliftons in terms of discipline, team game and pro potential.

Dear Allnightwong;

Thank you for a very mature and thoughtful response. That you took the time and energy to answer as you did speaks volumes. FWIW, I acknowledge that I
am "old school", and maybe too much so. I have never been fond of name-calling, and true to my principles, I have never used the "S" word in reference to Q, H, P,or any other school
(though I have come close with Cornell, LOL), and I don't like it when Yale fans do. I know very few Q fans by name, but I do know Mark Eagle, and I have great respect for him. I first
met ME at the ECAC Tournament in March 2013, when Yale put up double GOOSE-EGGS. Recalling what happened in the 3 weeks after that gives me optimism (albeit guarded)
about Yale's season going forward !!!

Stick tap. Appreciate it. Differing views don't always have to be a bad thing. And if you're not keen on "sucks" don't head up to Uconn any time soon. Some real winners in that joint.

As for Mark, there isn't a better guy you'll find in a rink throughout college hockey.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

The thing that really bugs me about the whole Yale-QU thing outside the obvious heartbreak of 2013 is Allain tries so hard to play it down. Allain doesn't respect Quinnipiac and thinks of us below him and Yale and I know this because he wont even say our name. That "elitist" mentality is the only bone I have to pick with Yale and Allain specifically. My father was an Ivy league hockey player and started chuckling when I vented to him about this 3 years ago because he played against Keith Allain in college and viewed him the same way.
