Huge news as Q plays BC for the next 3 years. Next year at Three Rivers Classic, the following year at BC, and the year after that at Q

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

The thing that really bugs me about the whole Yale-QU thing outside the obvious heartbreak of 2013 is Allain tries so hard to play it down. Allain doesn't respect Quinnipiac and thinks of us below him and Yale and I know this because he wont even say our name. That "elitist" mentality is the only bone I have to pick with Yale and Allain specifically. My father was an Ivy league hockey player and started chuckling when I vented to him about this 3 years ago because he played against Keith Allain in college and viewed him the same way.

Does Allain respect any program? I wouldn't sweat it or take it personally.

That is a big get schedule wise. BC, BU next year.

In all honesty I don't think any coach gives a crap about any other team than the one he's coaching. Opponents are just puzzles to figure out. Questions of "respect" are fan narratives and methods to get players motivated. Coaches are professionals -- they have more in common with each other than anybody else.

As for Mark, there isn't a better guy you'll find in a rink throughout college hockey.
I don't know about that. I'm just a passionate fan like the rest of you guys. Of course, my roll of often being the adult in charge sometime makes me appear more mellow than I actually am.

I know very few Q fans by name, but I do know Mark Eagle, and I have great respect for him. I first met ME at the ECAC Tournament in March 2013, when Yale put up double GOOSE-EGGS.
I remember that weekend well as you were down on the floor after the games consoling the players. I thought that was very admirable of you. I was also impressed when I learned you were the one responsible for the short-lived Yale HD video stream.

The next 3 weeks were whirlwind for both teams. As much as I hate having lost that championship, we were there... that's pretty tough to do in D-I hockey. It's all good I guess.

And just to show my love for everyone... Yale sucks! :D

I admit I got quite giddy when I saw Chip tweet that earlier.

I forget if there were talks of a tailgate for this Saturday?

If so, I'll bravely step out from behind my keyboard and meet some of you in the real world.

I will be checking out Hamden/Malden Catholic's scrimmage that afternoon. I'll probably arrive to the rink early at night. Around 5 and have a few beers but I don't think anything has been formally organized.

There was talk of a tailgate but I think that's pretty much died at this point. I'm guessing pre-gaming at Side Street.

May I chime in on the whole Yale/QU rivalry thing. I don't understand how someone can be offended by a middle school diss like, "Yale Sucks." Are we or are we not talking about a sport? I don't watch a sport because it makes me want to have intellectual debates on number and players. I watch sports because it fills that childhood dream void of being a professional athlete and don't think for one second as those boys are playing they don't say, "You Suck" to each other. I can see if there was a drunk fan throwing beer and swearing at some child but its a small chant or pointless banter between fans. If you can't take the heat, Get the F-U-C-K out of the kitchen. I mean on a bigger scale that is like a Yankee fan or a Red Sox fan asking either to be more polite when talking trash. Come on! And this little brother, older brother crap... no one owes ANYONE, ANYTHING! You may not agree with this, or you might but seriously... Yale Sucks.

allnightwong, I am from New Haven originally. Now I live in North Haven. Trust me, Yale is definitely Qu's older brother in terms of founding, history, reputation, academics, athletics, and the social scene. We lucked out. Yale is the perfect academic, athletic, and social influence for us. However, we are passing them by in some respects, e.g., athletics, freedom of speech, free exchange of ideas, etc. QU will continue to benefit from Yale's shadow in the coming decades. Go bobcat's!! Beat BU!!!

Thanks for the kind words in the first paragraph, Mark. I do recall that weekend in Atlantic City with painful clarity. I did indeed try to be the Consoler-in-Chief for the team, and I told
each and every one of them "the final chapter has yet to be written" (thank you, NOTRE DAME). I am not sure that every one believed me, but you can bet I reminded each and every one of them
of my words at the 4/13/13 post-game party. I hope we cross paths down the road......and let it be in Tampa. Meanwhile. for your gratuitous "Yale sucks", I leave you with my best wishes in your
ROLE as the adult in charge !!!

Refreshing take. I mean I've said way worse at games and to fans. Sucks, to me, is tame. It comes with the territory with sports. I dunno. I'm
Over it. To each their own. I will say, the Yale fans near me at Ingalls didn't appreciate me screaming "empty net" at Lyon in the waning seconds.

I remember back in 2007, after Quinnipiac won handily at The Bank, he failed to show up for his post-game press conference, instead sending his SID in with a two-sentence statement. Poor guy had to literally read the statement in the press room, then just shuffled on out of there. So absurd.

But, no. This isn't a rivalry. Nope. Nothing to see here. Move on, folks.
