Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

I apologize in advance for the inevitable tie or loss that will result from my attendance tonight
It's all your fault!

Really sluggish performance by the Bobcats. Hartzell played well enough for them to win but they never got any real flow all game long. Big turnover in OT that ledt to the game winner... 2 on 1 that Hartzy really had no chance on.

Regroup and rest up. Take it to Dartmouth tomorrow night.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

The offense has dried up the past 3 weeks outside of the Yale. The defense played well though Harvard got a bunch of shots through to Hartzell. The offense really needs to get going if they are going to go far in the NCAA's. Right now they really need to buckle down and get focused again. With number 1 gone hopefully there will be less pressure.

Minny and Miami lost tonight as well so we're still alive as far as that goes. Still #1 in the PairWise and that's all that really matters now.

The offense has been lukewarm most of the season. Hartzell's been keeping games close and we've been able to get a bounce here or there. Tonight everything looked like slow motion. No sustained pressure and way to much rubber got through to Eric. A tough loss only because Harvard is at the bottom of the league. Maybe it will help in the long run as they find they're not invincible.

It's still too early to panic. We just have to rebound tomorrow and end the regular season on the right note. Things are still very good in Bobcat nation.

The road streak is over... I wonder if Rand packed new uni's? ;)

Your offense did well for one period against Yale with a third string goalie in net. Lets not get too excited about that.

Disappointing loss, but it's all good. Have a feeling this club is looking forward to the postseason, but, seeing as they've really struggled of late, it's fair to question if they peaked too early.

Can they turn this thing back around for the postseason?

The defense is fine though the overtime goal was a very lazy turnover by us. They need to be able to score goals though. Scoring 1 goal against a terrible Harvard team concerns me.

I don't think they've peaked yet. Keep in mind that they really haven't been blowing anyone off the ice. They're a defensive club that usually doesn't need to score a ton. Yes, they have plenty of offensive power and should be lighting the lamp way more than they have, but I think they'll be fine. While it's been downplayed by Rand, I think all the "attention" may have been a factor over the past 2-3 weeks as well.

Can they turn this thing back around for the postseason?
Absolutely! There's no reason to think otherwise. Look at the season as a whole... they're playing essentially the same way they did at the start of the year.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

Yet, it would have been fine had they not allowed one.
Exactly! Win by 1 or win by several... it's all the same at the end of the day.

Tonight it's Dartmouth. They started the season looking like one of the teams to beat, had some mid-season struggles, and are still fighting for a top-4 finish. They'll be ready for the Bobcats for sure.

We need to go out with our heads screwed on straight and play smart. Limit the potential for mistakes and give Hartzy more support. A win on the road in the last regular season game would be a huge morale booster. No looking ahead, just take care of the game at hand.

Go Q!

I think the team will be fine. It was only the second loss (both 2 to 1) since Thanksgiving. A victory against Dartmouth would be nice, but I just want them to go to the playoffs healthy and have them spend some time during the next two weeks working on the power play.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

Hey guys, didn't get to see the game last night. Seems pretty bad to lose to Harvard, though I know they've been playing better as their freshman have started to come around.

With Minnesota and Miami losing, do you think they keep the #1 ranking? I guess they have an edge from being the current #1, but a loss to the last place team in the league looks pretty bad.

It really seems like they're having trouble putting teams away lately. Whether it was surrendering a 2-goal lead to Brown or even the inability to really put the game away against Yale after the 3-0 lead, it's sort of alarming. You can't let teams stick around, especially when they'll be playing a team in the quarterfinals that's most likely going to need the auto-bid to stay alive.

Is it lack of intensity because they've locked everything up? I don't know. What they do need to do is play a full game against Dartmouth and feel good about themselves going into the playoffs. A loss here, coupled by the bye could spell trouble.

With a chance at the #1 overall seed, it would be a shame if they even fall out of the top four if they slide into the NCAA tournament.

I have faith that this team can turn it up, but they're sitting in a precarious situation right now, I believe.

Wait for the weekend to be over before worrying about the polls. Minny's loss last night was at home while we lost in OT on the road. I think that balances out.

I think their situation is just fine. They don't need to worry about anything other than staying healthy until the weekend of the 15th. That gives them 2 weeks after this weekend to work out any kinks. This is a very good team... I just can't see them folding the tent at this point. As QUBobcats70 said, it's only the 2nd loss in over 3 months. We all need to keep things in perspective here.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

We (Union) need the Q to get the win tonight. I don't see you getting swept this weekend and I hope I'm right.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

QU might want to consider paying us to stay away from post season hockey games.
Let's see... you went to UMass (tie), Brown (tie), and Harvard (loss). I went to Providence (win), UMass (tie), Princeton (win), Brown (tie), and Yale (win). Yup, it's you and not me! Whew! :p

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

4-1 over the Big Green. Nice way to finish the regular season. They were flying all night and really took it to Dartmouth. To their credit, Dartmouth skated hard all game as well. The difference was a relentless forecheck and solid D in front of Hartzell. Shots were 36-19 Quinnipiac. Hopefully, that was a good enough offensive display for those that were worried. Now a huge week off to get ready for the second round.

Congratulations on a fantastic regular season, boys! A brand new season starts on Friday the 15th at the Bank!
