Quinnipiac Bobcats '11-'12 - Time to say bye?

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '11-'12 - Time to say bye?

Thanks Mike. Sorry to see SLU bow out. We managed to pull one out last night so we get at least one more breath.

Tonight has the makings of being a barn burner. Brown, no doubt, will come out and try to take it to us. We most likely will do the same. With the chippiness in the last few minutes last night, I see tempers being on edge all night tonight. Both teams have their backs against the wall... it ought to be a good one.

Yeah we went out with a whimper. We put a ton of shots on them but if there was one major fault with this years Saints team it seemed to be a lack of passion. Not sure why. We also were a team of streaks.....long losing streaks, then win streaks, then losing streaks, etc. Ended the year on a downer but every team but one winds up saying that. I think this team missed Joe Marsh more than anyone realizes.

Surprised to see 3 of 4 series go the distance. Would love to see Bobby Prier knock off Ylae to provide some redemption for an off year and a rebuilding season.

While in your game there might be some hard hitting I don't think you'll see any unruly play. Too much at stake. Maybe if it gets out of hand. Good luck again. (It worked last night). Ask Luke how he likes having Bolllig now playing for the Hawks??!!!!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '11-'12 - Time to say bye?

Best of luck to the Bobcats up in Hamilton. I'm not sure yet who I'm rooting for, since both teams beat Brown so much, but just make sure Harvard, Yale, and Cornell don't win in Atlantic City, ok?

I think the thing that impressed me most about QU this series was the defense. I fully expected to see great offensive play from the Bobcats, as well as stellar goaltending from Hartzell. But your defense was often so suffocating that we found it hard to even get the puck into your zone.

I'm happy, at least, that we made it interesting in the third period tonight. I truthfully expected to be swept, so even taking game one was exceeding expectations. Again, good luck the rest of the way. And please, move to Hockey East soon. I'm sick of always losing to you idiots! :p

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '11-'12 - Time to say bye?

Whew! What appeared to be a runaway tonight turned into a nail-biter but we held on to get the job done. On to Colgate next weekend for another best of 3. Well done Bobcats. It was a great series and an even better result!

Best of luck to the Bobcats up in Hamilton.
Thank you. I thought it was a well played series by both teams. Brown isn't that far off from being a force in the league. I think Whittet can get it done with a little more time.

While our defense was probably the difference in the series, I though Brown was pretty well balanced. Maybe the skill sets weren't the same, but the Bears played tough and gritty all weekend. JMac, Farnham, and Robertson were fun to watch (and scary too). I don't think you guys have anything to be ashamed of, especially after tonight when we went up 3-0 and they fought back.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '11-'12 - Time to say bye?

Terrific series. Q showed its mettle. The line of Peca, C Jones and K Jones is one of the best in the ECAC. Based on your play, I expect Q will be in Atlantic City!!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '11-'12 - Time to say bye?

So, it's Colgate.

Some pretty good memories of the road trip up to Hamilton in 2006, aside from the result.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '11-'12 - Time to say bye?

My daughter and I are in Hamilton, NY for the best-of-3 against 'Gate. Should be a good series as the teams appear to be pretty evenly matched. We'll need the usual solid effort at both ends of the ice and a strong showing between the pipes. I have to believe Hartzell is the man in net. Peca and the Jones boys should provide the spark but I'm also looking for big things from the other lines. Our D has been great all season and I'm sure will be this weekend. It's a great time to be a Bobcat fan!

Go Q!

I seem to recall there being an excellent pizza place right downtown Hamilton. Can't believe it's been 6 years since ZYanks and I (and others) made the trip.

Enjoy Hamilton Mark! I've been quiet on here, but have been closely following the team.

Pizza, Dunkin' Donuts, and was there a McDonalds? I'd offer you more, but they'd have to build another streetlight in town!

That was also the trip we made a day trip over to Cooperstown before Game 3. If you're a baseball fan, Mark, it's about an hour away from Hamilton and a fantastic way to spend the day.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '11-'12 - Time to say bye?

Already been to Dunkin'... it's right around the corner from the hotel (Colgate Inn). There's 2 pizza places just up the block. Probably gonna hit one up tomorrow for lunch. Tonight we ate right here at the Inn. Pretty good meal. Had dessert on the way back from the game. I've given serious consideration to the HOF. Might stop on the way out of town but not sure yet.

The game... well... it was good and probably closer than the score. Too many penalties. While we only gave up 1 PPG it was too much time a man down to get any flow. They played gritty and never quit. Hopefully tomorrow night will be better. I really want to do my part to help the local economy by staying an extra night.

When we are in Hamilton we always go to Nichols and Beal....bar and restaurant right downton on the corner. Better luck tomorrow night.

Right across from the Inn! We may head there for dinner tonight.

Better luck tomorrow night.
Thanks Mike. We could use all the help we can get. I expect it to go to 3 games because these 2 teams are very closely matched, especially when you get past the first lines.

Had lunch there this afternoon. The food was terrific and the atmosphere was nice even though the place was slow with only about 4 tables occupied. After lunch we drove up to the Colgate campus. Very nice with old and new architecture mixed together. Extremely picturesque views from up on the hill as well.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '11-'12 - Time to say bye?

Game 3 on Sunday! Wow!

We came out on fire and took control and a 2-0 lead. Then, while on a PP, 'Gate's Wagner had a shorthanded attempt and drew a penalty which resulted in a penalty shot. He beat Hartzell high on the left and clanked it in off the crossbar. After that, and all the way through the 2nd, they out played us. We had very few good chances in the 2nd and just didn't look good. With a mere 7 seconds left in the period and still on a PP, Langlois buried one to put us up 3-2. After a lengthy review and conversation amongst the officials, the goal was ruled good. Apparently there was a feeling it was kicked in by Langer but the play was right in front of me and the puck clearly went in off his stick.

The third brought a brand new team out of the locker room. We absolutely dominated the Raiders, limiting them to only a couple of quality chances. A late penalty against them sealed their fate as Scott Zurevinski buried a PPG to seal it. It was quite possibly their best period of the season, certainly the most important so far.

I expect both teams will come out swinging hard tomorrow. Game 3 do or die for both squads... a trip to AC at stake.

Mark,

Thanks for the great updates on Twitter! Much appreciated. I can't listen to the games at work, so I was relying on Twitter for my updates, and you did a great job!

Go Bobcats! Let's get to AC!

Thanks, but like I told Luke it's really hard to tweet, cheer, and heckle at the same time! It's also a lot of pressure to put on this old man! ;)

AC for my birthday would be oh so sweet!

Aside from the cheering and heckling, I know what you mean! Hockey's a tough sport to live-tweet.

Happy early birthday!

Another night at the Inn: $150
Another day of meals for two: $75
Game 3 for the Bobcats: Priceless!

Go Q!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '11-'12 - Time to say bye?

Just wanted to say the Bobcats played one hell of a series against the Raiders this weekend. Its unfortunate that we both can't advance to Atlantic City, but the Jones-Jones-Peca line will definitely continue to grow and produce, just like Colgate's Smith-Wagner-Wilson line.

MarkEagleUSA, I hope you enjoyed your trip to Starr Rink and Hamilton, NY. You're more than welcome to return there anytime. Safe travels back to CT.
