Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

im still here, dont worry guys, im just not great at keeping up with posting. still been showing up to each game. this weekend actually, me and larson, along with our other friend, will be heading to both games at brown and at yale. should be a lot of fun, as its gonna be my first trip to both rinks.

obviously, it will be very tough to sweep the weekend. we should win at brown. i would almost categorize that as a must win. it is very important for this team to try to continue some of the momentum from the st. cloud weekend and translate it into a conference win. with a very tough game at yale looming on saturday, it would be very nice to secure points out of brown.

the yale game will be very difficult. we have shown that we can skate with some of the better teams, but yale might have just too much firepower for QU. im not very confident about that game, but if we can walk out of there with a tie, i feel like that would bode real well for this team moving forward, especially since the downward spiral last year pretty much started after the game at yale.

it will be interesting to see who rand puts in net for the weekend. i know clarke is the guy, but hartzell played real well against st. cloud, and rand might want to try and ride the hot hand. i think he will probably stick with clarke, who is more of a sure thing though.

either way, this weekend should be fun, looking for to making my first (of many) ECAC road trips!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

Certainly is easier to be a supporter/fan when a team is winning. My philosophy is to always welcome the bandwagon support not push it away. Not that either is happening here.

ANW- I live/work in Philly now so it is harder/harder to keep up the day-to-day developments of QU Hockey. I'll try to make a few trips up during the year but for the most part I rely on local die-hards like yourself and MarkEagle to keep me informed; both of the results and the general feelings of the fans. You all do a great job of this and I certainly don't say thank you enough.

Thanks man. Since I was 16 years old and watching games at Northford all the way up through the Bank, I've been a diehard college hockey fan. But, still living in Hamden has made my life easier when it comes to following the team that I am passionate about. My main reason for the post was not to call anyone out but merely to point out the fact that in order for this team to continue its trek to the top it needs fan support. I appreciate that you still follow from afar and I hope there are more like you out there. Try to head out to the Bank and support the boys. With the turn out the last few years being way down from the opening seasons of the Bank the team needs the fan support.

Yeah, I'll take bandwagon fans over none at all myself.

You don't have to thank us... just say "hey" once in a while to let us know you're listening! ;)

Can't agree with you more. Yale is always a tough game, no matter the records of each team. I 2-0 would be a great start to conference play, and help to make up for last year's choke fest at the whale. If we can keep moving the puck around, and playing team defense we should be able to hold our own.

Sorry can't make it... will be down at the Masoleum... I mean the Colliseum for Islanders action. :( Hopefully I can catch some score updates.

OK only 2 days to get those picks in for the ECAC Pick The Standings Contest.

Can do Wonger. As a group, we are not done with classes on Friday until 4, so we were going to leave right after that. Hopefully we wont hit too much traffic leaving from campus. we are hoping to get there around 6, 6:15 ish. again, its our first trip out there, so we dont really know exactly what to expect on the trip.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

Hey all. I've been holding off writing a message like this because I was giving the season some time to develop and hopeful that with winning came the fans support. But after a respectable and probably over our heads start of 4-2 (two wins coming against a CCHA and a WCHA opponent) it is still Mark and myself posting on here. This is simply confusing seeing as how many people posted in previous seasons. I give Larson, Quinn57 and QUFanJim credit for sticking with us here on the forum. I understand that work and the real world have affected the likes of Zyanks and Minni but guys we are quickly turning into the Princetons of the college hockey world in terms of fan voice.

So, I did some digging and went back to that salary cap league I started last year and found some formerly frequent posters who have yet to say very much this season. What gives...RallyMonkeyTime, Mschvatz, QUBobcats70, JimRoz, Kitten? It's no surprise to me that Quinn15 no longer posts now that Lampe graduated because I am all but certain it was him or someone very close to him. But for the rest of the aforementioned, where are you all?!? If we ever want this team to turn into something more than a local flash in the pan and compete with the Yalies who are showing up in droves supporting the Bulldogs, then we need the fan support even in a down year. The funny part is this can't be considered a down year yet. Pre-season rankings and on paper aside our boys are playing well and taking wins not to mention dealing with the tragic loss of Cory Hibbeler's mom.

Come out to the games, show your support here and let's make Ingalls have that blue & gold feel that it used to have whenever we'd play there.

I'd love to comment on the team, and still read the forum almost every day. Unfortunately, I've only listened to about 1 period of action, and haven't seen any of them yet. I can't really comment on what's going on without actually seeing the games... But yes, work is tough and I'm just hoping I'll be able to make it up there for 1 game this year. That might not happen, though.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

I will comment on the team. I think they can be good. I think they can play with some of the top teams in the country which i might add they might face regularly with Yale and union lerking in the league. I just think that they first have to stay health and second have to get deeper than the first line. There is a dramatic drop off in play from the the Jones brothers and the captain to the second line. Henchen is the only other player that I can see being an standout. I think Quinny can get to AC they just need some other players offensivly to step out of the shadows and claim some of the spot light. JUST MY THOUGHTS

Hockeyguy I have to agree with what you said. The Jones brothers have been as advertised but I think the "captain" Zurevinski needs to step it up. With the talent that those two have he should be racking up points and building up that attractive resume. Heichman, I believe that's who "Henchen" is, has been the biggest bright spot on the team this year. We're talking about a kid who had a decent Freshman campaign gathering 15 points (4 G/11 A) and then fell off last year and saw numbers and playing time cut down- 4 points (3 G/1 A). But he is not where the numbers should be coming from. I would also mention Yuri Bouharevich who has quietly played well, but he can even produce more. You are spot on about the first line being our only production. Langlois has the potential to have a huge season but hasn't shown much of anything.

Either way, I agree that they can play with anyone but this weekend will be a good test opening in a big time trap game at Bruno. We can't afford to overlook them with Saturday at the Whale lingering. Brown is more than capable of gaining home ice for the tourny and humbling us tomorrow. Yale will be our biggest test of the year as their offensive talent rivals the best in the country and while their goaltending is always an issue, they are the best team we will play this year barring Nebraska Omaha coming back down to earth which is inevitable.

Hope to see a lot of gold in Providence and the Whale this weekend!

Go Q!

Yeah, we are going to head up early in the afternoon and possibly grab a bight and a drink before the game. See ya there.

I think we can safely add Rohlheiser and Goodman to the list of guys who have the potential and should be stepping up this year.

Absolutely cannot overlook these guys!

Hope to see a lot of gold in Providence and the Whale this weekend!
Road blues tomorrow and whites at the Whale for this guy!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

I'm still here. I don't post too often but i'm here and supporting the team. This is the 1st season 3yrs that I don't have season tix. the drive from NY was getting to be too much but I plan on coming up for some games.

Similar to previous year I think the team looks promising; because of previous years, i'm not going to get my hopes up

For what it's worth, I hope Rand plays Hartzell at least one game this weekend. I think he deserves a shot after his performance last weekend. Clarke is good but has not been consistent.

Go Bobcats!

Nice touch by Yale & Quinnipiac combining to host Mandi's March a 7.5 Run•Jog•Walk•Ride on the just completed 7.5 mile linear trail connecting the QU & Yale Rinks on Saturday (11/6). Fund will benefit Mandi Schwartz and a check will be presented by the Yale and QU Alumni offices during the QU at Yale Men's Game Saturday Night.

Thank You Comments from the Schwartz Family:

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

I want Hartzell in net tonight. There I said it. Listen, I and I think everyone has complained that this team plays to its competition and last Friday nite, maybe that is what Hartzell did. I know SCSU isn't the team yet that they will be, and they may have taken us lightly. Still, if Pecknold can convince his team that tonight's game is bigger than tomorrow, then a competitive kid between the pipes WILL bode well for the team. All of this is a streach, becasue to be honest I don't care how good Brown is or can be I will always look at them as a team that got slapped around in HE, except for one game were Dove Morris dropped an insane game against UNH a few years back at the Whit. These kids are looking to tomorrow, I just know it, but maybe...JUST MAYBE with the fresh blood (mainly Jones/Tolk) this team is hungry for the weekend. One last note all the students recieved this in our email yesterday. http://www.yaledailynews.com/news/2010/nov/04/hockey-fans-to-turn-volume-up/ Q wins tonight 3-1
Can't wait for class to end and to hit the road.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

I'm looking forward to both games this weekend. Tonight at Brown will be no easy task, but I think we can beat them with a solid effort at both ends of the ice. Sooner or later our offense has to break out. Last Friday at St. Cloud showed some promise so I'm hopeful that they can repeat that in Providence. Defense and goaltending need to step up. Clarke wasn't terrible Saturday at St. Cloud, but it also wasn't his best effort. If he can steal a few and get help out front from the D, there's no reason we can't skate with the Bears tonight and come home with a win. I'm taking Q 4-1.

It would be nice to see a lot of blue and gold in Meehan as well!

Go Q!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

Almost ready to head out with MEUSA and the crew to the game. Interesting post about the Yale Student Body. In the past the only downfall of going to a game at Ingalls was the student section which was rarely uniform or noticeable so as a rival fan, I welcome this and say kudos to those getting things down over at Yale. Anytime your team is ranked as high as Yale is and has as nice of a barn as Ingalls the students need to turn out and be loud and intimidating. As far as organizing cheer squads maybe it is something our students need to look into. I know Larsen and the boys have tried hard down in their section but as I can attest to, it is not easy. The only thing I had working in my favor was the brand new arena to bring borderline fans in. Oh well, the article gives us some good ideas as well as makes me want to hush those students tomorrow night.

As for tonight, I see a hard fought 3-2 victory for the Q. Who knows who will be in net but I expect a strong performance from either Clarkie or Hartz. Heading out now, see ya in Providence!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

Well, the way the 'Cats play at Meehan, you take the point and run the hell out of town.

That being said, an awful tie.
