Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

Super excited about the road blues. I've been complaining about wanting to have one for a few years now. Not sure if I want to get one now or wait to see if one magically shows up at Christmas or not, I did say I've been talking about it for years, LOL.
No better time than the present! ;) I was amazed at how many I saw in the stands. Apparently everyone likes them!

It was nice to see eveyone crashing the net yesterday to try to make plays. If they can keep that kind of agression it should make for some interesting scoring chances as the season moves on.
Not only were they crashing the net but I also noticed they weren't afraid to send the puck back to the point and regroup. Both very good signs that they might just be a little aggressive offensively.

Nice touch by QU creating videos/QU•Tubes promoting the Ohio State Series and QU's Midnight Madness:

I agree Fred...it's nice to get the faces of the players out there to the students and the community. Hopefully that will translate into some filled seats this weekend. I also liked the Rand/Dalsy recaps of the St. Thomas game...would love to see more of these for the rest of the season. Well done.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

Great that a lot of people have taken to the road jerseys. Can't believe it's taken QU this long to make them available. Far and away more aesthically pleasing than the whites and while the gold shirts have an argument, I think the blues are the best.

Anyone who caught Sunday want to toss out some possible line combos? Sadly I am wayy out of the loop here.

Hard to say because not everyone played and they dressed a couple more than normal. I really think Sunday was a time for the freshmen to get their feet wet more than anything else.

However, the line of Zervy and the Jones brothers looked extremely good. That might just be our #1 line. Come Friday I'm sure we'll see what Rand has in mind.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

Forward
Jones, Jones, Zurevinksi- Dynamite line with tons of skill.

Rolheiser, Bouharevich, Langlois- Excellent second line that can compete with any other second line in the league, barring Yuri's head shot having long lasting effects.

Heichman, Harvey, Dunbar- The tiny line, decent speed, zero height, tons of heart. All three could be valuable PK guys as well.

Arnt, Goodman, Robinson- Goodman has scoring upside but needs to play a consistent amount of games to really show his ability. Arnt is a quality lower 6 centerman and Robinson seems to be a gritty, attitudinal force that is perfect for a checking line.

Scratches: Bui, Oakes, Coughlin

D Pairings
Glaicar, Barron- Power and speed. Both competant with little flash.

Dalhuisen, Davies- Dalsy had arguably the most impressive showing during the exhibition and should see plenty of ice time. Davies has a ton of upside and gives Quinnipiac great depth at D.

Hansen, Currie- Hansen provides veteran leadership while bringing little to the table in terms of talent. Currie has shown brilliance when healthy but he has a great deal to prove with many healthy D scratches each night.

Scratches- Tolkinen, Hibbeler, Tyson, Liimatainen

Goalie
Clarke- His job to flourish in or lose.
Backups- Hartzell, McGann, Whiting

Yo Katzie, Zervy and the Jones Brothers? That's sounds like an XXX-rated movie from your personal collection. Disgusting, but right in keeping with your typically maniacal behavior.

Good luck to the Q against OSU this weekend. :)

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

Maybe switch Hansen with Barron unless Zach's lost a step or two. Highest scoring senior D-man prob is higher than third pairing unless I'm missing something. Which is always a possibility.

Hansen has most definitely lost something in his game over the past two years. He was one of the very few sore sights during the exhibition the other day and has really fallen off in my opinion and in the opinion of a few other league fans in terms of commanding the blue line. He is a far cry from what some scouts claimed was our best pro prospect. With the game on the line and needing my defensemen to be able to hold the line and keep a puck alive, I'm not even sure he makes my top six on this roster. Very undependable and a walking 2 minute minor. I see a decline in his numbers this year, I hope I'm dead wrong, but just from what I've seen and the push from the likes of Tolkinen, Tyson and other starters his TOI and productivity may suffer.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

Thanks Wong. Hope you are wrong as well. Remember thinking after Hansen's freshman season that he was a natural replacement for Henningson. We'll see though. Still led all d-men in scoring last year and has experience on his side.

Walking 2 minute minor could be applied to half the team as well fwiw.

Hansen has lost something from his freshman and sophomore years, but it might just be being a little too aggressive at times. I will say he became good for at least 1 mishandled puck per game last year and started off Sunday the same way. There's no question he can still produce. Maybe the "A" on his sweater this year might calm him down and help his game. We'll definitely need his leadership with the younger D-corp.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

I don't know if anyone in this forum takes what Brian Sullivan says to heart...but a pick of 11th in the league, I thought to be a bit harsh. Yes we lost Wong and Beaudoin and the such, but c'mon I still believe we are better than Harvard, Clarkson, and Brown. Princeton I can understand them being ahead what with the injuries. It doesn't look like there is much goaltending in the league this year, what with no Scrivens. Milan is back at Union and I would pin him as a top goaltender in the league. (2.07 and .917 ain't bad) But Clarke, if the defense can keep him from hanging out to dry, WILL have a more than respectable season. I just can't fathom that we are picked by the ECAC "expert" (I put that in quotes simply because I don't know what kind of stock any of you guys put in him) to finish ahead of just St. Lawrence. Just one other note about the lines...I cringe everytime Arnt tries his hand at puck handling I thought he looked a little sloppy in the o-zone on Sunday...other than that on the forwards I feel comfortable and on "D" I like knowing everyone is back. 11th? C'mon.

One other note...there is some new found excitement on the campus regarding the new ticket system. This goes for more of the hardcore fans than anyone else. If you go to the athletic website I think the information is there. Basically, if anyone doesn't know...students don't get tix to the games anymore, but rather show up at the gate on gameday, flash their q-card and then swipe in. I think it is like 655 students for hockey and 750 or so for b-ball. With each swipe you gain points, 1 for a men's event, and 2 for a women's. At the end of the year students will be rewarded prizes based on how many points you accumulate. You have to stay for two periods or one half in order to get points for the games you attend. Overall I think it is a great idea, except I enjoy having an actual ticket. One big bonus to all this is that no one will ever be able to say "oh I am not going to the game tonight because I didn't get a ticket" but also I can only imagine the hell this will raise when kids show up to the Yale game to find that they can't get in. If all the student seats are taken. Students can pay 5 bucks to get in. Love to hear thoughts on the new system.

I have mixed feelings. I love the idea and think rewarding the true student fans is awesome. A, because I was once you guys down there in the front row and B, because I am still technically a student (Grad School). However, I fear students who may have friends in on a weekend and want to come to the game...if they don't have a card they don't get in free. I hope this doesn't turn anyone away.

I think after your explanation it will be for the best though.

Too early for predictions for the weekend's games?

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

And what's up with Mr. Sullivan? Absolutely no love for the Q in his ECAC preview.

Hey Mark and All Night Wong
If you think you didn't get any love from Sullivan (I refuse to use the Mr.) then how'd you like to be us????? My Saints were picked last!!!! Yes we have lost a lot the last two years but his reviews are very superficial and instinctual at best!!! You click for a "detailed" review of our team and he doesn't even mention any of our incoming freshman one of whom, Greg Carey broke the OJHL goal scoring record last year with 72 goals in 48 games. We have another freshman Jeremy Wick who after last weeks exhibition game the coach already called him "a man" because he hit anything from the other team that moved. While I don't think by any stretch we will be a "force" in the league I think we will do better than 12th. He gives teams like Cornell....who literally have little to no offense returning a pass....always ranks Harvard and a few other schools high. I think our team (SLU) will be a lot like yours last year in that we have 7 freshman. All of your frosh from last year have a year of experience under their belt and I think you will do way better than where he picked you.

I say Sullivan--Schmullivan!!!!! On our site I posted that I hope Coach Marsh pastes that pick on the wall of the locker room for some extra motivation. Maybe Pecknold will do the same.

Best of luck this season (except against SLU) and I'll see you at a game down the line.

Yeah, I like Brian. He was very nice when he came to meet us and I welcome him back again, but to fail to mention these incomers as well as our Jones Brothers who both attended Edmonton's Prospect Camp, both were at least a point a game player in the BCHL and last but not least...Kellen is now our only drafted skater on the team being selected by the Oilers last June is major oversight. Like you said Mike, let's prove em all wrong. Look forward to seeing you soon. We do have Ohio State this weekend if you wanted to stop by.
