PWHL Rosters & Season

Anyone have any knowledge of how the league will be broadcast?

and if you don’t have knowledges….theories/ideas?

I’m curious about both US and Canada.

I’m curious about both US and Canada.

Info has been showing up in various places, I think. So far, TSN has a schedule of broadcasts for Canada, and CBC has a schedule including the first game and weekend games.

For the US, there is theorizing that NESN may show the Boston games, as they have covered that team.

Thanks! Glad to see cbc coverage… I believe that is more accessible than tsn given it’s a public broadcaster. That is a huge step for women’s hockey imo. Not sure about the mix of streams vs on tv but looks like TSN has a bunch on tv.

and I think you are right about NESN… and I’ve seen some Bally sports bits for Minn. so in the US perhaps broadcasts will be regional . I imagine there will be a way for folks outside Northeast and Minn to stream, just impatiently waiting!

At any rate I’m excited, less than a week away, finally!

I just read today that TSN is broadcasting 34 games, 27 on TV, seven streaming.

As a follow-up here is more info, updated today, on where games are available (each broadcaster carries the team's regular season of 24 games):
- New York games, MSG Networks
- Boston games, NESN
- Minnesota games per this story, split across Bally Sports North and Bally Sports North Extra
- Montreal games in French, split across RDS and a Radio-Canada app
In Canada each of the 72 games will I believe be covered in some form by Sportsnet, TSN, and/or CBC, with a fuller schedule here.

Further info includes that some games will also be on Sportsnet Pittsburgh, including Monday's inaugural game, New York at Toronto. A pre-game show for that game is at 12 noon eastern. Rogers Communications is to partner with the PWHL in Canada. Each of the 72 games will also be streamed on the PWHL's YouTube channel, watchable everywhere except Canada. It's nice that the games will be widely available that way, as well as various of the broadcasters' apps.

Thanks for sharing! Definitely seems accessible. Obviously I hope they get a national partner in the US but on tv regionally plus streaming nationwide for free seems like a big step forward.

Also NESN will televise the first game between NY and Toronto on mon too and YouTube will carry all games so everyone in the US is covered.

The PWHL announced the public release of its rulebook this morning. After experiments at preseason camp, the league has adopted a rule saying that if a short-handed team scores their latest minor penalty expires. Puck drop is 12:30PM, New York at Toronto!

No words for how special today is. First names on the back of jerseys I saw were Vasko and Howard…. CHA, I love it. That Toronto defense looks pretty strong holy moly.

inwas a big critic of the lack of branding… still powerful to see iconic North American cities across the front, sends a message in its own way I suppose. I wish them all the luck in the world.

I was at the rink, the atmosphere was electric from pre-game to the actual game, the place jam-packed. Everything was SO professionally done, kudos to the PWHL, the Toronto organization and volunteers for making it such an amazing event. The game was very fast paced and physical.
The only disappointment was that there were no game programs being sold which was shocking. This was first PWHL game EVER played. Strange for sure

A great landmark from Ella Shelton! That must have been a momentous experience, Slapshot Willy. I could see a lot of the fans sporting purple and gray PWHL hats/toques, via The PWHL YouTube. Continuing on the excitement from the season opener, upcoming games this week are:
Montreal at Ottawa 7PM ET today, debuting those two teams
Minnesota at Boston 7PM ET tomorrow (Wed), debuting both of those teams
Toronto at New York - a rematch - 7PM ET Fri
Montreal at Minnesota 2:30PM CT Sat
(Have downloaded the complete season schedule from the PWHL page to my calendar.) : ):)

Montreal surges in the 3rd and wins 3-2 in overtime, on a goal from Ann-Sophie Bettez! (MTL takes 2 points, and Ottawa 1 point.) A great, intense game, it set an attendance record for a game in a professional women's hockey league with 8318 fans.
