Providence College on the road to Tampa

are you incapable of joy

Hate to stick up for him but......

Maybe he didn't say it well and maybe said for the wrong reason, but if Ellis gets an offer that puts him in the AHL he should take it. You don't leave money on the table, it might not be there in the future. See Clay Witt

For saying Hawkey hasn't seen game action since Ocotiber besides that BC mop up duty, he was extremely sharp. Ellis can't leave money on the table because the NHL clearly believes Hawkey is a better goalie since he was drafted and Ellis wasn't.

PC up 3-1 over the Icebus halfway through the third.

Re: Providence College on the road to Tampa

Another sweep. I sure hope PC does better next weekend against the Irish.

3-2 final. Way more exciting than it needed to be, but we at least keep up with BC and Notre Dame and get some space against UML and BU.

21 wins.

Re: Providence College on the road to Tampa

Nate Leaman...finished the first year of a new five year contract extension at Union when he went to PC. Semantics about being let go or not.

Semantics me arse. You are either let out of a contract or held to it. On BOTH sides. PC has let coaches out of contracts in the past and also held firm depending on the situation. They have also had to pay coaches that they let go because they were still under contract. Again name for me the coach that outright broke their contract because they wanted to go elsewhere. The fact is that you can't and Coach Leaman is not going to the Big 10 or anywhere else before the end of his contract unless PC lets him.

We all know that PC and the fans love him coaching right here so prepare for him to be here for the next five years.

If you don't let him out of the contract, you can't find replacements easily. The PC women's soccer assistant coach went to UNH as the head coach for one season and returned to take the PC head job. I think we know, UNH had a contract for longer than one season.

Name one time a coach was held to his contract by PC? Barnes? Pitino?

Re: Providence College on the road to Tampa

Pitino no. He was going to the NBA. Barnes yes. Initially he was going to Virginia. He was signed, sealed and delivered until PC said no. After losing Pitino and suffering through the Gordie Chiesa train wreck they weren't going to let Barnes leave the first time he wanted to leaving PC in the lurch by jumping to Virginia.
Barnes thought PC would just go along with it and when they didn't had to come back to Providence and feed the fans and media this major BS about changing his mind about leaving PC and breaking his contract because one day he's have to talk to his children about honor and commitment. He was a major fraud!!! I know because I worked for him on a daily basis for a season before calling the hockey games on the radio.
Incidentally PC started looking for his replacement shortly after because they knew he wasn't invested in staying and why keep him if he wanted out. Barnes went to Clemson and PC replaced him with Pete Gillen. Many thought he was an upgrade. He had some success and Gillen eventually left to take the Virginia job.
Remember PC had to settle on Chiesa because Pitino left in June so there was no choice but to go with Chiesa as it was too late in the year to start over. Top recruit Eric Murdoch and company were convinced to still attend PC.

Re: Providence College on the road to Tampa

So I went on line to see if there were any tickets left for the Notre Dame game on Saturday. And the game isn't even available? I'm assuming this a a package deal thing and/or it already sold out.

Ah, for the Pooley/Army era when this never happened.

The BC and Notre Dame games were in package deals.

Re: Providence College on the road to Tampa

PC hasn't figured out they could raise more funds selling standing room tickets.

Re: Providence College on the road to Tampa

Looks like some seats opened up for this weekends games. I have to say the Vividseats "official school reseller" thing has worked out pretty well for me once I got past the sign up part. Fridays have become increasingly hard for me to get to the game in time or find others that could make it and I've managed to sell a few tickets at decent price. Between this and literally giving away my unused tickets before sold out games I feel like I'm doing my best to keep Schneider looking full. This being said, I think FOF plays a roll in the empty feeling but definitely not a major cause. I stay up there during periods (especially the first, when i like to relax and have a beer after an hour and a drive and a week of work) and there's maybe 60 people that actually stay up depending on the game. Closing the bar at intermission like they used to won't do anything because people will just get 2 as the intermission ends.

Re: Providence College on the road to Tampa

Am I missing something, there is no Notre Dame thread? What their fans are too good to get on a message board...:p
