Providence College on the road to Tampa

Re: Providence College on the road to Tampa

Props to you Providence fans for handling the first loss of the season like champs.
You know we all secretly love UML, right?
We knew Cornell was a good team heading in, Walman was out, we hadn't lost for 9 months, and after last year, there's really nothing we could possibly complain about. (except for Gillies) That and BC had a much worse two game set.

The Maine folks on the "Fire Red" postings really want Nate back in Maine......now that is a great tribute to the coach

Chances he goes to Maine are so low. I would be more worried about Wisconsin, Michigan, or Ohio Stafe coming for Nate. I don't think PC can compete financially with those schools.

Re: Providence College on the road to Tampa

Terrible effort by PC and I think clearly the team that played better won the game.

Re: Providence College on the road to Tampa

It's too bad these teams have a low chance of meeting in a playoff scenario. Their matchups are always worth looking at.

Re: Providence College on the road to Tampa

Anyone have info on Walman? Losing 2 of last 3, team needs him back. Any chance he plays this weekend against BC? Has he been practicing?

My understanding was he was practicing in Florida when the team was down there and was "close" to being back.

That team yesterday wasn't the same team that I saw before the break and didn't have any intensity at all.

Dropped to number 3 with no first place votes........surprised they only dropped 2 spots with a showing like the last 3

Losing 2 in ot is not as bad as regulation and they beat BC who was highly ranked
They are still 13-2-3 which is impressive
No one below them has a better record

Down to 6th in PWR which is the only ranking that matters while BC is tied for 15th. PC has two wins against the top 16 in the PWR.

Re: Providence College on the road to Tampa

Tough time to catch BC this weekend as we sure won't catch them being complacent. It should be a war on ice as both coaches have to be unhappy with their team's recent level of play. PC gave up 46 shots to Brown for cripes sake.

Demko is out with an upper body injury and PC will be facing a goalie in his first NCAA start on Friday night.

Interesting, in the article about the 2 new additions they mention the BC backup goalie with an injury not Demko:

"Due to an injury to goaltender Chris (Birdsall), Ian’s presence was needed for practice and we look for him to play an important role for our team here in the second half.”

I'm just going to assume that it's a game against BC and we're not catching that much of a break with Demko out. We need to avoid OT and clean up the rebounds in front of Ellis, because that seems to be an issue now.
