Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

looking forward to Friday's game, always love taking the trip down to PC.

I'll be sitting with my sister, a soph. at PC. A little sibling rivalry never hurt anyone right? :)

Jon from what I could see you could have sat by yourself with an entire section all your own !!!!!

For those of us who "live and die" for our favorite college hockey team, there comes a time when that is secondary. And that time came to Pioneer fans this weekend.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. — University of Denver center Jesse Martin sustained three neck fractures in Saturday night's hockey game at North Dakota and was transferred to a Minneapolis hospital this morning where doctors are deciding if emergency surgery is required to relieve swelling of the spinal cord, the player's father said.

What's the scoop with PC this year guys?

Currently sitting in 2nd place in HE. Coming off a win and a tie at UMA... Is PC better then expected of does UMA just really suck that much?

Thoughts on this upcoming weekend?

They're sitting in 2nd place because they've played 5 games too -- so that's kind of deceiving when half the league hasn't played more than 2 or 3 games (UNH and UVM have only played once!).

It's a nice start, certainly better than last year, but I also think Umass is terrible. We'll see how good PC actually is once they start playing the better teams in the conference. At least they've been competitive playing teams that will likely finish near them in the standings like Lowell, Umass and Northeastern. A year ago they'd have lost those games.

Hopefully a good weekend coming up for the Friars. Getting points at home always a must.

Like to see Bergland really get on track this weekend.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

I smell a split this weekend. Loss on Friday and a win on Saturday. 4-3 then 3-2. Money in the bank!

Hendrickson says we get swept. Then again, he says that every weekend. He was correct twice.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

They played well but the faceoffs were horrid and the PP never showed up.....good thing they were playing the other cellar dweller or they would be in big trouble.....this game showed me very little but pointed out their shortcomings......they will get whipped Saturday as they are not ready for real Div 1 teams but with Vermont playing like they are maybe they are not real Div 1 either.....we will see soon

The bottom half of Hockey East seems to be just pitiful once again. Umass loses tonight at home to ARMY (by 3 goals!), both they and UVM are a combined 0-8-4. Northeastern is 1-5-2. Umass Lowell is 2-5-2.

It's good PC is getting points in these games, there's no doubt. From what I could tell on the Cox feed, it was not pretty (2-0 games with Merrimack never are), but at least they are winning close games against, let's be honest, teams that figure to finish in the bottom of the conference. But like I said, last year they lose these games, at least they are finding a way right now.

I agree with you that they will need to do better once they start playing the better teams in the conference, but the flip side is they can win ugly and make some inroads as far as moving up the standings this year. They've done decently here with a favorable early league slate and they're probably going to get a break because it seems for the second straight year Hockey East is going to have a few teams at the top and a whole lot of nothing else outside it, at least judging from the early going. Not much seems to have changed from a year ago in terms of the league's overall strength, which is good for PC. Even if they're mediocre (and they probably are overall), they may stand to finish better than last year because other teams are worse.

You and saty sound like 2 know it all negative fools. "from what I could tell on the Cox feed it was not pretty"? Very good effort and the fans/students there saw a very solid game. MC beat bc last week and could have won the other game vs them
You should both just go away, you both have no clue
They have played 6 good games in conference and anyone who is a pc fan should be happy with the start
2 fools
Does BU suck as well
Pc outshot them 2 to 1 and outplayed them and BU is the sole undefeated team in country left

Enjoy and support or shutup

A two game winning streak brought you out like clockwork! Sooo predictable!

You calling someone predictable is a joke. Dont let your anger, ignorance and negativity get in the way of enjoying hockey. You should just go away because the 1900 there last night saw a good team beat a good MC team 2-0. You and your toxic pal can go discuss faceoff losses elsewhere.
