Hokydud likes to talk tough while hiding behind a computer but the days of his anonymity are coming to a swift end. Believe it!

Be careful, we lost HankWP after he outed Nate91b - a poster who was a few wheels short of a unicycle himself - on a similar stunt...

Lost as in Hankwp was banned for giving Nate91b's real identity or something worse? Sorry. I've been here a long time, but never really followed the gossip. However, this has me intrigued.

Actually, that's exactly what happened. HankWP gave out Nate's real name and was subsequently banninated for ever and ever. He was a funny ***** and for a while, the only real Harvard fan on this board. Nate was a twit of the first order so we made out poorly on that exchange...

It will be well worth it. The guy is a troll and I can't think of a poster more deserving of the exposure.

91 the name you are referring to is very much involved with the priest altar boy scandals in Massachusetts, he wrote a few articles after talking to some victims

Figures that the JF that Hoky speaks of is involved in such a thing. Makes perfect sense. Posters on all the treads call Hokydope "çandyvan" now I see why.
He is a sick, sick person! I'd ask you all to ignore this creep and hope that he just goes away. Disgusting. Now I know why he repeatly says....They're all good kids and tries to pin sick stuff on poster who disagree with him. GROSS!

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

One coach is hired, just one to go.

By KEVIN McNAMARA

PROVIDENCE - Providence College has reached an agreement in principle to hire Fairfield coach Ed Cooley as its next basketball coach, according to people involved in the negotiations.

Cooley and his representatives met with PC officials on Monday when they apparently reached agreement on a deal, the terms of which are currently unavailable. Cooley was at Fairfield on Tuesday morning where he met with his school president and then later spoke with his team.

Cooley will be switching from a program on top of its conference to one trying to gain a foothold in the deepest league in the country. The Friars finished 15-17 this past season but just 4-14 for the second straight year in the ultra-competitive Big East. PC fired coach Keno Davis after just three seasons on the job

Wow the AD did an EXTENSIVE search on this hiring. PC thinking big time but still playing it small time.
Play it safe there Hockeyguy!!! He knew his skin is on the line.

PC went from hiring one former Coach of the Year to hiring a former Minority Coach of the Year. I hope this CotY does a better job than the last CotY.
Now lets hire David Quinn or Bennett and call it a day.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

I will say that Coach Cooley was the best choice if you were looking to stay small time. I don't think that anyone is going to be flocking back to purchase season tickets for hoop over this hire. They will come back if he has a huge coaching year over the next two seasons. I wish him well. Wouldn't have been my choice but we have to realize that PC's glory days were long ago and won't be matched any time over the next several seasons.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

But he was the coach of choice in the ProJo article so our AD can always point at that......I wish him good luck and hope the fan base supports him for at least 3 years, give him some time to fix the mess.....the same thing will apply to the new Hockey coach and he has an even bigger mess, no known leaders and few scholarships and a lousy building to play in

I'll give credit where it's due and applaud Driscoll on this hire. I think Cooley is the right guy at the right time, and going from Fairfield to here after having extensive success as an assistant under Al Skinner seems like a natural step up for him. He's local, he knows the conference, and IMO I think he's a real good coach who could turn this program around -- if anyone can. The fact that he's a Providence native could also mean he'll stick around long-term -- another plus.

More over -- he is a head coach, not some unproven assistant the school would be rolling the dice on. IMO if the hockey program is able to nab someone with the same type of experience they'll be lucky.

Maybe Hokiedope was a priest! That would explain a lot.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

From Today's Providence Journal:

Bob Driscoll introduced Ed Cooley as Providence College's new basketball coach Wednesday, and now will turn his attention to hockey.

The Providence College athletic director also needs to hire a new hockey coach to replace Tim Army, who resigned two weeks ago after six difficult seasons. Driscoll reported that he has compiled a list of 10 candidates. That list will be cut to four or five candidates who will be brought to campus for interviews.

That process, though, will be on hold for a couple weeks. Driscoll is chairman of the NCAA hockey selection committee and he will be at the national championships. He said several of the candidates are on list and will be taking part in the national championships, thus would not be available to come to campus until the tournament is completed.

The goal is to have a coach in place within a month, Driscoll said
