Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

That had zero to do with it. He had not dressed in 8 of the last 10+ games

Presence means something too. Ask any team that has won championships. Manytimes a team captain or leader is not your leading scorer but they help everyone stay focused. Look at Matt Greene and Matt Price for BC. They won NCAA championships as team leaders but were no where to be found in the scoring leaders. As far as missing the games, was not that ankle injury the main cause?

The blades on the sticks were flat when he coached

Simple plan. They've given the hockey program up for dead 15 years ago. You save the rest of the programs---They simply move Bob Driscoll out of the AD job and and make him the hockey coach. Yes he's over paid but then you could at least hire a real AD.

Driscoll even has experience in taking over distressed teams:

Alex recovered quickly from his injury; he was a healthy scratch for like six games.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

What will happen with young Army? I assume Tim can't be leaving on awful terms with the college, considering his record speaks for itself. Tim left the school with no other choice but to fire him. I'd hope Tim would encourage his son to stay. Then again you don't want any conflict to arise between the former coaches son and the man who took his job.

I nominate Jon for the job with Hokey as his head recruiter/scouting. Who better could you find to scout then someone who has been doing it illegally for eons?

I'd prefer my assistants to not be under constant threat of getting a beat down by man who wears purple pants, thank you.

Not to worry you have seen the commerical.....their goal is to be most respected. So Just remember respect never goes out of style:D

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

So it looks like it will be some time after the Big East Tourney in New York before anything official happens to either of these coaches, then if you remember it takes Driscoll forever to find new coaches with the basketball coach hunt being the top priority........this could mean we get whoever is left out in Hockeyland and not the one we really want

He's only a freshman. If he wants to leave and is here solely because of his dad, transferring is no big deal.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

Not sure how many other teams he could crack the line up at in HE.

Well, that's a whole other story.

I can't imagine the Armys weren't aware Timmy might get the hook. I mean, unless they were completely oblivious or living under a rock, you've got to think they knew this might have been a distinct possiblity when Derek agreed to come here.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

They renegotiated Army's contract. He agreed to collect his remaining salary over the next six years with an incentive clause should they make the playoffs.:D

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

He resigned?????????????? I guess he didn't want to see fired on his resume?

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

Let the Party Begin!\

Heck, I am going to re-buy my season tickets! The Frozen Four might even be in our future! Wow! Who thought it would happen so soon. Let's Party!

I have this image of the loud speaker on MASH playing Happy days are here again. Finally the thread lives up to its title!

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

Beign part of the Providence College hockey family beyond coaching for the last six years, I have a great deal of respect for Tim turning to the next chapter in life and wish him and his family the best.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

I was going to post a link to the Projo story about the resignation, but then I saw this one: Recapturing past glory won’t be easy at PC

It seems a couple of people at the Projo have been paying attention. It seems they had joined the apathy bandwagon I guess, given the lack of coverage over the last decade. Let's hope change is good.
