Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

Awsome. I'm glad my fear that army would get overlooked with keno also being on the hot seat didn't happen.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

I'll celebrate Christmas when the goods are really delivered. But then, let the party begin. :)

Hey it's the closest thing we've had to a party since...welll...Pooley got fired. We really need to celebrate something more than coach firings, but alas, that's what PC hockey is these days :(

Anyway, thumbs up. Freds you might want to update the OP! Things kind of are looking up....hopefully.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

When it is official, I will celebrate. Keno, Tim, what about Bob for the trifecta?

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

Yes, I need to cool my jets in excitement...I hope it's not just rampant speculation on the part of that website.

Maybe it's time to email Adam Wodon and find out....will report back if I hear anything.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

I’m back….sorry for the intrusion…..but I intruded about a year ago. I am sorry that things have not gotten better under Coach Army. I am also sure that Coach Army wishes things were better with regards to more wins in Hockey East…..it’s not like he is coaching to intentionally lose. Let’s face it…..that is what it’s all about in sports today…..as Charlie Sheehan would say…..WINNING! Having said that, I never want to see any coach lose their job, their livelihood, especially when they have a family to support. However, it is time for Coach Army to move on. Good luck Coach.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

With what these coaches are paid I can't feel a thing......they collect 10 years of normal pay for every year they work, so no hard feelings here their family should be set for a long time

Thank you Mrs. Army.

Tell your husband that we wish him all the best.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

Why don't PC, UML and Maine save themselves a lot of money and just set up a 3 way trade involving head coaches. After a couple of years it will be easy to see who the good coaches are in that group.
Also as an outsider of PC athletics from my perspective, when Velischek left PC had a respectable record slightly above .500, and after that they only won 2 more games. Either he meant more to the team than people will admit or the team chemistry just imploded.

That had zero to do with it. He had not dressed in 8 of the last 10+ games

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

According to an e-mail from Jim Donaldson they are waiting to do Keno then they will make Army official, But it is a done deal

Love it! Touche!

It's been speculation that he'll be let go but nothing yet. Does anyone have anything concrete?

Assuming you are counting the New Brunswick game as a win Velischek actually played in 3 of the wins. The unfortunate thing was that Army convinced himself that the defense was fine in their 4-0-3 streak in November while Velischek was out. Once the Northeastern reality struck, he did put Velischek temporarily in the lineup, however from that point the dynamic duo of Hart and New were each -12 by my count. The defensemen also as a group were offensively challenged. Of the 5 other defensemen beside Baier playing at the end of the year, not one sccored a goal. Weird fact the goalie on the women's team outscored 4 of the defensemen and had just 1 less assist then the 5th

Hey where's Hokyfraud to tell us how wrong we are again?!?!?! :p:p

i'm waiting for Southie's reappearance.

BTW, if this is true, I don't envy Army's replacement or the guy who has to coach the Marshon Brooks-less hoops team.

I got an email back from Adam Wodon at CHN. He said he has two different sources at PC telling him it's a "done deal" as Donaldson has mentioned.

Simply looks like a matter of time now...

Simple plan. They've given the hockey program up for dead 15 years ago. You save the rest of the programs---They simply move Bob Driscoll out of the AD job and and make him the hockey coach. Yes he's over paid but then you could at least hire a real AD.

Driscoll even has experience in taking over distressed teams:

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

Wishing PC well. I'm thinking many of the PC fans feel the same way I did when Serino and Merrimack parted ways. He had lost that team, and the program was lower than low. Got a new coach, and it took some growing pains, but you have to really like where MC is now.
So, it can be done with the right coach and the right support from the admin. It would be terrific for all you loyal PC fans ('91, Jon, satyking, The Freds etc.) to see PC rise from the ashes.

Good luck

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

I nominate Jon for the job with Hokey as his head recruiter/scouting. Who better could you find to scout then someone who has been doing it illegally for eons?
