Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

Finally the projo writes an article about Army's record at PC.

http://hoopsblog.projo.com/2011/02/skating-on-thin.html

The comments at the end of the article are priceless. SunnyDriscoll hits it on the head and FriarDee is EXACTLY the fan that PC Athletics LOVES!!! Talk about denial!!!
FriarDee would say "So aside from all that, how was the play Mrs. Lincoln?"

BTW This weekend is all about which team is the taller midget. I'm going with a split.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

I emailed Donaldson a few years ago and asked him to write a column about this...he mentioned it in the paper once, but Army's bad record has only piled up in the interim. What's more, the numbers simply don't lie. I actually thought Army would get grilled more on this board than he has -- certainly he's deserved it -- but I think that goes with the fact that most fans no longer care (which is worse than lots of complaints). Pooley took two or three times the abuse that Army has on this board, but that's a sign of a dwindling fan base as opposed to Army having people in his camp.

I also agree with Donaldson's line that even if they finish 8th, there's "not much to look forward to." Making your own league playoffs really isn't a mark of accomplishment -- or it shouldn't be. Winning a Quarterfinal series would be, but this team would get dismantled by BC or UNH as Army's prior teams all did (outscored 26-3 in six prior playoff games).

I am going to the Beanpot on Monday. I hope they are able to capture the magic that was the Coffee Pot.

Well put….. as always.... I would love to care... but about what? I mean if they make the playoffs does that get him a contract extension for improvement? I mean year over year it’s been the same thing. The Pooley teams seemed to at least have a chance. I know for myself I've wanted to post throughout the season but about what?

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

I think they can beat UVM this weekend, and I'm not overly worried about UML later on. BC/BU obviously isn't going to be fun, but surprises happen...

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

Back to normal PC hockey.....down 6-1 at the start of the 3rd period

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

But was it ever anything other than "normal" PC hockey this year? The patterns look to be the same -- win games over lousy teams to start the year, go into a coma once the new year starts, struggle to win conference games, go through a prolonged streak of losing, rinse and repeat. Just look at the numbers the last few seasons. It's all there.

I do admit it's a tiny bit surprising they are getting blown out by this particular UVM team -- I figured they would lose, but not by this much -- but if the cycle of the past 2 years holds true we're in the midst of a prolonged streak of bad hockey that will run through to the end.

No wins in Hockey East since November 5th-- this is the same thing this team has put up year in and out.

Not much else to say...

7-1 final and its back in 9th place we go......look out Lowell we will push you up a peg by years end......Driscoll you must give Tim an extension he is so consistent

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

LOL. Don't be silly. Lowell's not going anywhere. Not even 9th. *sigh*

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

At least the basketball team lost well today, 83-81 to #14 georgetown. I guess thats what we need to get used to with driscoll at the helm, "good" losses for every sport!

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

Maybe Mount could finish the season for PC.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

I'm sure they will be ready to make a move next weekend.

Army sucks, Driscoll sucks and no one cares about the program. These two hockey guys are in over their heads. Fr. Shanley needs to step up and can these two clowns.
The program sucks. It's that simple! It's become a pathetic joke!!!

Do you feel strongly about that? ;)

You know, say what you will about Hokydad, he convinced me to just let it go. I don't care anymore so I no longer get passionate nor emotional about the ups and (mostly) downs. PC's time was long ago and until someone cleans house it will be an athletic program all about the past.

Wow things seem to have hit Rock Bottom. Who would be early candidates to replace Tim Army?
