Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

This thread gets more and more disturbing every day.

Speaking of GLM and the grammar horse, I can only imagine that the Horse took one look at Hokydad's posts and exploded.

He stays away from this thread for that very reason. It's like knowing where a land mine is and staying away from it.

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

Anyone notice who's tied for the lead in points for the AHL's Lowell Devils? Our not so old friend Matt Taormina - pretty good for a D man.

http://www.lowelldevilshockey.com/theteam/statistics.php

With all the injuries the NJ Devils seem to be having, maybe Matt could get a call up at some point. Speaking of ex-Friar D man an interesting twist. I saw that Hal Gill is on IR in Montreal with a foot injury. The Canadiens have brought in Jay Leach to fill in for him - pretty interesting.

Speaking of AHL and PC. Hope that Colin MacDonald can work is way into a call up to the Oilers this year. He's getting to the point with that team that, if he doesn't see the big club this year - he may just not make it.

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

Can you believe that we mention the NHL and Hal Gill in the same sentence.....Mac deserves a cup of coffee at least, they have to see what he has and decide if they keep him or trade him........for 91 this would be 4 posts !!!!!

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

Can you believe it, these are hockey related posts.....must be the wrong thread

He got the game winner the other night for Springfield. I believe he's got 5 goals and 6 points total. Just follow close enough to see how he's doing, but he seems to be a 3rd liner and seems to essentially be filler. Size got him to where he is, but he never was willing to use it.

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

I forgot to mention that Brown is 0-2-1 thus far on the young season with TWO games to be played against Clarkson and Cornell BEFORE they play Providence on Tuesday.

Just pray the same fate does not befall them that did the Lady Friars when they had their Mayor's Cup. That Brown team had just 1 game under their belt a 8-1 beatdown from UConn. They thrashed PC 5-1, drove PC's all star goalie to the bench. However maybe Brown will return the favor we gave them by letting Erica Farrer score her first goal of the year and let her brother get his first against Brown. Just an aside in Brown's 4 games since then they have scored 1 whole goal. I can see the Hockey Gods playing a very unkind trick on PC.

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

PC Men's Hockey will be celebrating the life of Mrs. Penny Clarke in a pregame ceremony on December 12th.
Mrs. Clarke was a retired nurse, a longtime season ticket holder and huge fan of Friar hockey.
I was lucky enough to have gotten to know her a bit and found her to very lovely to talk to and she had a wonderful of humor. I worked with Mrs. Clarke's daughter Sara at the P-Bruins. She was so sweet, as is her younger sister and Mr. Clarke, and I'm hoping that the ceremony is a fitting tribute. Not a rehash of the recent Senior's Nights.

There is a nice notice about the event on friars.com.

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

Another bit of news that some might find interesting is the play of the RI Storm. They are a pro club whose operation is based at Boss Arena on the campus of URI.
Talk about great hockey for a reasonable price. :D
I watched them play the Connecticut C-dogs this past Tuesday night and they housed the dogs. They play against this Sunday afternoon at noon down at URI. It's worth the trip I swear!
The C-dogs have this goon Esposito that you'll love to hate. He can't skate but he can shoot and swing.

There will be no third post in a row today. Sorry, I'm just not feeling up to it. :(

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

So, did the Grammar Horse trample Hokydad or did the police drag him away after driving over to PC91's house wearing purple diapers?

And who the hell decided that two games in the span of 20 days was a good idea?!?!

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

If it wasn't for the RI Storm, I would have lost my hockeyloving mind!!!

Granted, I love the after party at the Mews as well but it's the quality of hockey that has held me over.

Maybe some of you will make the trip to Boss Arena tomorrow? Faceoff is at noon.

Nah, he just moved over to the BU-Merrimack thread. Maybe you wore him out?

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

Anybody hear that Jon Rheault is back in Providence on a tryout with the Baby Bs? Refresh me, how long's it been since the Bruins had a former Friar? Wasn't Leach the last one?
