Primelink Week is Here

Re: Primelink Week is Here

Awesome interviews as always!

When I heard Bill say that the torpedo system was for the most part over all I could say is wow its gotten that bad....? The other thing i took away is he doesn't seem to have a lot of confidence in his team.

As Coach Beaney told Charlie a year or two ago.... "I'm fishing from a different pond."

Middlebury clearly isn't getting the same types of recruits they used to during its glory years. I never thought I would see the day where Middlebury would be a .500 program but that's what they've become the last four years and the early start to this season doesn't appear anything will change.

Granted lot of puck left to be played and Middlebury could make some big noise this weekend with two wins on home ice, but still...

Re: Primelink Week is Here

Motherf.... I slept through my alarm and missed it!

Torpedo system is gone? Hmm, looks like Coach Beaney is fighting for a way to adjust to the changing game around him. He revolutionized DIII hockey in the 90s and mid 00s, but now he's been left in the dust and is playing catch-up. He's a great coach, and I'm sure he'll eventually get the team on track. This is a step in the right direction, IMO.

Re: Primelink Week is Here

Score doesn't count towards your handicap just because it's November?! I like it! Where are my clubs?!

In Colorado courses are technically closed from Nov. 15 to March 15, but you can still play. In November and in March its just golf. In the other three month you play with frozen ground, and it is a different game.

That is a surprise. Midd has been playing that system forever. Looking forward to the Primelink as usual. I'll have my phone set up and be listening to George while I finish my round (going to be nice weather here on Friday) and then head home and catch the end of TV. Then I'll watch Midd play their non-torpedo system.

Boy would I love to see St. Norbert on this list some day.

Let's make a game out of it...Who does everyone think will be the invitational team for next year's tournament? (I have no prior knowledge, but my goal is to find out who it will be this weekend!)

I'm going with Adrian as my guess.

Re: Primelink Week is Here

Lets not go there. Certain coaches dont like us "wanting" teams in the Primelink. I'd love to see Adrian. No offense to past West teams but I'd love a challenge....

With Norwich hosting, it will probably be Bethel ;)

I'd love to see Adrian. Definitely an up and coming program. They have become among the perennial powers. Having them here might make up for the recent downgrade of boys with the blue Ms on their home sweaters.

The only thing that maybe might hold Adrian back is that they came out to the NSB Tournament in 2011 so maybe they would prefer to go to Middlebury or Plattsburgh.

Regardless,

St. Norbert, River falls, Stevens Point, Eau Claire, St. scholastica and Adrian would all be excellent additions to the field.

I'll make my second guess Gustavus Adolphus.

Re: Primelink Week is Here

I saw that game. Norwich mailed it in. BTW, that was the only win thus far for a western team. Would love to see SNC or Adrian. Even Point or Eau Claire would be a good fit. SNC or Adrian would make this tournament a true event!

I forgot, a middling western team could NEVER have won that game if Norwich had "cared." Thanks for the reminder that it's cows on skates in the West.

Re: Primelink Week is Here

No, not at all. There are some very good teams out west. Even two or three great ones !

It was in a lot of ways a less than memorable Norwich team, but I did edit your post, and I'll put up Vermont cows against the overrated Wisconsin cows any day of the week. White Cheddar > Orange Cheddar any day of the week. :D

I have no dog in the fight any more anyway because I live to the west of what is considered "western" hockey :D
