I'll take that bet (33 or more points his freshman year). What's the wager? The only thing that will put a kink in it is injury - let's stipulate that he has to play at least 33 games.
In my opinion, CC lost a huge amount with Fredheim and Prosser graduating. They played a huge number of minutes. Yes, guys like Lowery, Leaverton, Guentzel and Marciano played a significant number of games last year, but they will all see a lot more minutes against top opposing players than they have before. I still think CC will compete for a spot in the top half of the league, but I think that they'll struggle without the solid defense from those two players.
Wear a Boston College hat when you go. That oughta shut the fans up if they give you a hard time.![]()
ps- I wish BC would play in Oxford. I would absolutely make that trip.
hahaha solid. But just wearing a BC hat wouldn't shut them up.
I would like to see a BC-Miami series as well. But to be honest amongst the fans its a lose-lose. Miami wins they still haven't beat them when it counts. They lose BC fans pile on some more.
But for the programs its a win-win. A couple more games against top level opponents and tournament teams never a bad thing.

Agreed. I dont think BC would have much to gain though. I have to think they like to keep Miami questioning themselves when it comes to BC and if they were able to beat BC in Oxford, it would give them confidence if they were to meet in March or April.
That'd be a great nonconference matchup though. Maybe get a deal to have a BC/BU vs Miami/OhSU weekend together.

double headed in columbus maybe? bigger arena..........nice idea but a fantasy for us fans though![]()

I'll be honest, this one doesn't mean as much to me as some other wagers I've tried to make (tUMD posters back-talk out of everything) but I'm fine with something relatively small... how about if Jaden scores 33 points, then for the following season the first thing in my signature has to be something like, "Rich is a great college hockey mind," if he scores less than 33 and plays at least that many games, you have to do the same, and if he comes up short of 33 in both categories, no consequences?
Bigger arena yes, but both draw the same amount. Sorry but BU or BC hockey wouldn't draw a sell out in columbus. It would be a far better atmosphere to play in front of 3500-4000 in goggin than it would be 5k at the schott. Which is why OSU hockey fans want a smaller hockey only arena, atmosphere is garbage up there outside of michigan weekend.
i know OSU doesn't draw well but thinking 8000-10000 for a doubleheader wasn't out of the question. not my area of the country so i defer to you on that but the Brotherhood would bring 3000+ themselves no?![]()
Sounds good. I think that the chances are pretty good he won't quite hit 33, but I'm feeling optimistic this off-season and I do think that with the linemates and PP time he'll have there is a chance he will. With small enough consequences like that I'll go for it.

Yea 8-10k would never happen. When they had the Ohio hockey classic with Miami and OSU and they brought a team like CC in and clarkson in when they were near the top they were struggling with 4 or 5 k.
When Miami comes to columbus its nearly 50-50 in the building. and its still 4-5k.
They don't draw well at all and don't fill half the building which makes for a horrible atmospher. I see your thinking but they struggled to get people in there for a michigan series last year and while BU and BC in almost every other place would draw more not there in columbus.
In theory it would be nice, but packing 3500-4000 in goggin would be far more exciting than 4-5k or maybe 6k in the schott that seats 14-16k.
I think Notre Dame is poised to be at least an NCAA tournament team again... they underachieved badly last year.
Minnesota is the Wild card.

BC would obviously get killed by "The Brotherhood". "BC can't skate with Miami", right?![]()

They sure did, and I hope they bounce back. Although I'm a BC fan, I understand that a rising tide floats all boats. It's good for the sport to have teams like Notre Dame and (for example) Ohio State in the mix. OSU has been a 'milk carton' team for many years ('Have You Seen Me?') and no sooner did Notre Dame rise to the top when they started sliding back down the other side.
Big schools bring crowds and that all-important thing called atmosphere.
I wish the Irish luck this upcoming season...except against BC.
