Predicting who gets in the 2021 NCAA Tournament

So much for "Pairwise within conferences".

Minnesota beats Duluth plus 2 for head-to-head, and plus 1 for RPI. I'd have to look, but maybe Duluth wins common opponents? Stll, that's 3-to-1 Minn in a Pairwise comparison.

BC, Providence and UMD over PSU? Not a chance...the selection committee is a joke, but not a surprise given BC and UMD represented on selection committee.

BAH GAWD THAT'S HOCKEY EAST'S MUSIC

Guess the committee was too averse to putting in a team with a losing record even in a tough conference. Good job UMD for only playing 7 games against Min, OSU, and Wis and 10 against MSU, SCSU, and BSU.

Tired: WCHA gonna get 4 teams for the first time ever.

Wired: CHA gonna get 2 teams for the first time ever.

Inspired: Hockey East gonna get 3 teams for the first time ever.

Somewhere along the way I said something like "Maybe there are no good answers this year". The committee did what they could to emphasize the point.

Nope, I checked. Minnesota wins a Pairwise 'common opponents' over Duluth as well. The overall comparison then is Minnesota 4, Duluth 0.

I knew BC’s coach was on there, also Flanagan... who are the others?

This should help explain it....

Josh Berlo, Minnesota Duluth athletic director

Anita Brenner, Cornell deputy athletic director

Katie Crowley, Boston College coach

Paul Flanagan, Syracuse coach

Kate McAfee, New Hampshire associate athletic director

Shocker a very easterly biased bracket.

But aren’t they on the committee to objectively put the best teams in the tournament? As coaches, Crowley and Flanagan have to be completely embarrassed to be part of a UMD over MN choice.

And in a "normal" year, with avoid flights at all costs we would have had
Providence at Northeastern
Minnesota Duluth at Wisconsin
Robert Morris at Ohio State
BC at Colgate

And the Gophers got hosed. Maybe the committee is geographically challenged?
