Re: Power of the SCOTUS IX: The outlook wasn’t brilliant for the SCOTUS nine that day

At some point We the People are going to say enough is enough and there will be hell to pay. Though I wonder if I'll see it in my lifetime.

Congress reflects the people. The reason Congress is hyper-partisan now is because a non-trivial rump of the people has been trained by a media machine to be completely convinced in their view regardless of, even proudly in contradiction to, facts, and that anyone who doesn't share their view should be ground underfoot.

Geez Rover,

Of course not. If Harry was herding the Senate last year, Garland would have been seated after the nuclear option was invoked.

You should work for Comedy Central.

Of course not, considering you are part of the problem by constantly equating the two sides as equally responsible.

They should have said it when the R's effed over Obama at every turn and Garland should have been the last straw.

And 5-4 conservative rule which we've been living under for decades and has given us Citizens United. Go Corporate Overlords.

Yup. Corporations will now win every time at the SCOTUS unless Anthony Kennedy goes liberal on this issue like he has on social issues. I really do appreciate the lesson 3rd party/non-voting lefties taught us, which is if you think the Democrats are getting a little too cozy with big business, the solution to allow the Republicans to let corporations do pretty much whatever they want! Makes sense to me.

Neil Gorsuch skates out of the penalty box and the court is back at full strength.

Hmm.

tl; dr: Fixed terms for SCOTUS judges (e.g., 10 years) to lessen the stakes on Court appointments.

Too short. 20. Though the odds of this happening are the same as Clarkson beating Cornell in the post season,
Can they be reappointed, or it is a once in a lifetime opportunity?

Can we have a reporter ask Trump if he knows a single Ted Nugent song off of the top of his head? For that matter, ask most people if they know one; also ask if they know a single good Chuck Norris movie.

"Cat Scratch Fever" was a hit before we knew he was a dick.

I doubt Trump knows even one song from anyone, unless it's some Sinatra-type who used to suck up to him.

I can't imagine Trump has either the soul or the cognitive ability to appreciate music.

Yeah that's pretty much the only one.

Also, apologies for posting this to the SCOTUS thread and not the POTUS thread, sometimes I lose track of which one I'm on.
