POTUS Elect Trump II: We Are So Totally F%*#ed

Re: POTUS Elect Trump II: We Are So Totally F%*#ed

It led CBS Radio news all morning the morning it broke.

There are advantages to avoiding the daily media deluge (I'm a few days behind the cycle, getting my news from podcasts after it's cooled enough not to burn my tongue) but I probably shouldn't try to bring up "breaking news" from my vantage point either. :o I just saw this last night, it was horrifying. They actually partially scalped the kid with a knife. The kidnappers' only two demands the whole time (30+ minute video) were "Say, F Donald Trump" and "Say, F white people" so the motivations are clear enough. They were stupid enough to videotape the whole thing, so no avoiding charges on this one once it got out. The only person still willing to go to bat for them was some knucklehead on CNN, as far as I know. There's no place for these kinds of attacks whether or not you agree on candidates.

They weren't videotaping it (hah, old timer! ;) ), they were streaming it live (sort of like a live broadcast on the internet :p) using Facebook's Live feature.

"Even" BLM?

How odd that a group committed to publicizing police brutality would also be against private violence...

BLM has some slick marketing, but I have an immediate family member who is a cop in St. Paul. Let's just say that many of their "on the street" members are not ideal marketing material and that most of their less-than-savory actions are not publicized on the national news.

The stupidity boggles my mind. They must have been high, right? How else could they feel so empowered to broadcast something like this and expect congratulations for it?

Two things, I think. First, their friends probably engage in a lot of the same rhetoric, given how casually they were doing what they did and saying what they said, that it didn't seem like they were doing anything wrong them. Taking an extreme example of this, it's just like people in the KKK thinking that everything they're saying and doing is right because their friends are doing and saying the same things - the echo chamber effect. Second, so many people feel the need to tell everyone what they're doing all the time (here's a photo of my potatoes au gratin!) that it's becoming second nature to these people* now.

*These people being teenagers and early 20s.

Oh Donald, wait until the ratings that actually matter come out. Twitter might blow up.

I'm so glad that, what with a major security briefing today, our President-elect finds it's just as important to tweet about his former job. If the ratings continue to slide, will he ignore his previous statement of not doing anything and exert his powers as Executive Producer and step in? Because, you know, he can do it in his spare time.

30 years ago, people would think you're insane for taking a picture of a meal.

There are a bunch of sh-t cops, too. So by your own definition, that means cops are all sh-t?

Re: POTUS Elect Trump II: We Are So Totally F%*#ed

"The dishonest media does not report that any money spent on building the Great Wall (for sake of speed), will be paid back by Mexico later!"

They probably don't report it because it's absolute bull****.

Here's the thing.

The GOP has been using this strategy for decades: if a fact conflicts with their lie then whoever reports that fact is "biased" or "dishonest." Trump is doing nothing new, he's just doing it so overtly and stupidly that everybody but the folks who have drunk the Kool Aid immediately see it.

The question is: will 4 years of this inoculate the wider public against the "Librul Media" GOP lie, or has the right penned their saps in the Echo Chamber with such perfect epistemic closure that they will literally never even get a whiff of how they have been played for suckers?

Trump is a fun psych experiment in how far you can push things before even the True Believers catch on.

They don't understand the implication of "everyone can see" things like this on the internet. In 30 years of Internet use, people still don't grasp what can happen, especially when they're stuck in their own microcosm of the universe.

What's disturbing is how the mentally handicapped person got from a far West suburb of Chicago 35 miles east to the city limits proper.

You're overthinking it. IINM they were all 18 year olds. They were, in addition to being monsters, morons.

Re: POTUS Elect Trump II: We Are So Totally F%*#ed

There is far more conclusive proof that Trump is 12 years old that there was that Obama was born in Kenya.

Re: POTUS Elect Trump II: We Are So Totally F%*#ed

50% of the country didn't care and doesn't care.

Hillary took 51% of the 55% turn out, so 72% of the country doesn't care.

"A republic, if you can keep it."

Oh, that's right. There's 20% in there who are going to start crying, "that's NOT what a I voted for". Yes, you did.

.55 * .51 = .2805

1 - .28 = .72

51% of the 55% who voted don't care, that's what Kepler is saying.

I hate math. I know that people don't care and I know that people are going to start crying. I also know that I'm going to tell anyone who cries to me that that's what they voted for exactly.

Re: POTUS Elect Trump II: We Are So Totally F%*#ed

Trump's tweets have become increasingly concerning to me. It seems every time I turn on a news channel he's said something else that makes me smh. At some point the result will go well past innocuous. He and his minions think it's cute and clever, but the rest of the world?
