Let's call the whining in that article for what it is. You have a guy who worked in what is supposed to be a non-political part of the government, who then chooses to take the rare and unusual step of interjecting his own views into who should be elected to be his boss (but we should all separate it between him as CIA spook vs him as regular voting citizen), but is now upset because the guy he campaigned against is mocking him and his agency.

Do I agree in principle it would be better if Trump did not publicly ridicule agencies like the CIA? Sure. But this guy has no business whining. And this whole business of equating the email hacks with 9/11 in just so much nonsense. I'm about as computer illiterate as you can get, but I have a hunch that on the scale of global cyber security and government hacking, Russian hacking of DNC and RNC emails is pretty small potatoes.

Trump hasn't even taken office yet and you guys have almost sucked all the hyperbole out of the world. What are you going to do 10-15 years from now to get people to believe the end is near? For reasons you've yet to explain we somehow survived the George W. Bush administration. Now, we are being told we are about to embark on some sort of worldwide fascist movement that will make the 1930's and 40's blush. You guys need to unplug your computers and tablets, shut down your phones, stop reading papers or watching news channels on tv, and just take a nice little vacation before blood vessels start bursting. Jeez.

Maybe some of us would like to do better than "survive". And to be quite frank, at least 4,424 Americans did not survive the Bush administrations choices. Basically, **** you.

No we haven't. Obama has spent 8 years trying to clean up his mess and has failed. His failure was helped by a Republican Party with no interest in fixing anything. Now we're headed for even more destruction that we will never recover from. The Country that won World War II and built the greatest empire the planet has ever known is dialing the clock back to 1929. We know what happens next. And we know what happens after that.

Yet, oddly enough, if the Democrats had not voted in favor of the Resolution, it never would have passed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq_Resolution

I grew up during the original Red scare, before economic pressures caused the old Soviet Union to implode. A lot of hand wringing and money for a whole lot of nothing. Personally, the prospect of doing it again bores me.

9/11 was a tragedy, primarily for the families that lost loved ones, and for the City of New York. It also caused what is probably the most gross over-reaction by a nation that we've seen in centuries. It seems to me that a non-political officer in the intelligence community with the best interests of the country in mind would understand that, and understand the danger associated with stirring up the masses against these "threats."

The administration lied to get us into that war. Colin Powell is the most culpable. Everyone was afraid of the Nuclear Warhead GW said was coming to the United States. The intelligence community knew different. Valerie Plame and her husband knew different. They were slienced. Now Trump is going to silence them again. He will be the Supreme Being who knows all. And he will be our downfall.

Hillary losing is my proof Bernie would have won. Those white working class people voted to give a shiv to Goldman and the plutes. Bernie ran on that and was sincere. Trump ran on that and was a lying sack. It would have been no contest -- Bernie would have completely destroyed him. And what pro-Clinton / anti-Bernie voter would have jumped to Trump?

Well, planet earth survived the ice age too, but frankly, I'd rather not have to live through such extremes just to claim, "we survived it".

We as a country were in a position to do more than "just survive". That ain't gonna happen now. I guess you like starting over again at zero every 4-8 years.

This is a fair criticism. It is to the undying shame of the Democrats that they didn't hold the line on Cheney/Rumsfeld even at the risk of being called cowards and traitors. That was the moment the Dems should have taken one for the team, but very few did. Hillary was among the worst offenders, seeing as she did it in full cognizance of furthering her presidential aspirations.

The Dems should accept full responsibility for helping usher us into this era of blind obedience to an increasingly unrepresentative plutocracy. If you and I can agree on that, maybe there's hope of rolling it back someday.
