Re: POTUS: Definitely Needs Anger Management

He basically spoofed Info Wars. Colbert spoofed O'Reilly of Fox News, Klepper took the same idea and went next level. It didn't work.

Right. I think Alex Jones is unspoofable. He's too insane all on his own. The Onion used to try for it but even they couldn't do it and they have been the best in the business (I worry about them w/r/t G/O Media).

Re: POTUS: Definitely Needs Anger Management

Breaking News: Mitch McConnell has rejected Democrats’ demands to call Mick Mulvaney, John Bolton and other key aides as witnesses during a Senate impeachment trial.

GOP: It is unfair! The President has had no witnesses to defend him!
Dems: That is true. Here is a list of people we would like to call that work with the President. Maybe they could defend him while they testify?
GOP: WE CANT LET THEM TESTIFY!!
Dems: But...
GOP: THIS WITCHHUNT IS THE WORST KANGAROO COURT EVER! THE HOUSE TRIAL WASNT FAIR!!
Dems: The House doesnt do a trial...
GOP: SECRET MEETINGS!! WHY WAS THIS ALL DONE BEHIND CLOSED DOORS?!?!?!
Dems: You guys were there...
GOP: THIS IS A SHAM! YOU WANT TO OVERTURN THE ELECTION!!!!
Dems: We want what now?
GOP: WHERE ARE THE PRESIDENTS PEOPLE TO DEFEND HIM?!?!
Dems: Besides the GOP who asked questions?
GOP: ITS A COUP!
Dems: .....
GOP: WHERE ARE THE PRESIDENTS DEFENDERS?!?!??!
Dems: So we can call them to testi....
GOP: EXECUTIVE PRIVILEGE!!! THEY MUST NEVER TESTIFY!
Dems: Ok well then lets move on...

Plus Colbert is a comedic/improv genius...Klepper is basically the same as every other Daily Show correspondent. Funny, but all they have is sarcasm.

Re: POTUS: Definitely Needs Anger Management

My parents finally saw the John Oliver “eat **** bob” musical last week and both just nodded in between gasps and said “well there’s why Oliver always beats Colbert for the Emmy”

Bee was great and has maintained her show. I think Hodgman is the best of all of them, including Colbert, but he does a trillion other things. And of course Carell launched his career out of TDS. Aasif Mandvi is amazing -- I wish he got more chances. Larry Wilmore is brilliant too.

I agree Klepper's TDS WAR is < 1. He's like that big vet lug who married the ugly f-ckable chick from Flight of the Conchords.

Good to know erdogans arm is still all the way up trumps backside, controlling . Hard to imagine there’s room with Barr and graham living there

Re: POTUS: Definitely Needs Anger Management

Most of those guys are great elsewhere but I found rather 'meh" on TDS. Mondvi and Wilmore the most...Hodgman got old to me fast.

Personally I always loved Lewis Black the best...but mostly because his standup was brilliant :D

Thinking about it, this might be the best way to handle it. On the one hand, everybody knows it was a genocide -- even Republicans know, so it's percolated down to primary school drop outs.

Yet, we still get to say it's not officially US policy which means Aragorn Estrogen doesn't have to thump the Muzzie tub. Everybody wins except Dump, and f-ck him with a rusty rake.

We could actually use this situation (psycho moron president) to our advantage in some situations.

My 9th grade Modern European History teacher was a soft spoken 178-year old Armenian named Ohanasian. When he got to WW1 (the last week of class of course), he started talking about the Turks and it was basically Sam Kinison in Back to School.

Re: POTUS: Definitely Needs Anger Management

Don't they have to vote to call witnesses?

IINM McConnell can decide on whether a rules package comes to a vote so he can sh-t can it all by himself.

McConnell could actually probably stop the Senate from even taking up impeachment. Just park it. The House might have standing to appeal to SCOTUS but if the fix is in then pffpt.

The Founders did not anticipate an entire political party shredding the constitution. They thought in terms of one rogue man or a small faction and thought there would be enough men of good will and sincere dedication to the republic to at the very least apply the law. And they thought the courts would be above widespread corruption. Finally, they could not have anticipated a broad criminal conspiracy would actually retain its voters' support, or more likely they thought if it came to that then the experiment fails and the people fail democracy, not the other way around.

250 years, untold lives and sacrifices, and what brings us down is a bunch of garden variety grifters peddling racist butt hurt.

"What a country."

It's worse if the party publicly shuts out Bolton et al. Then it's even a worse show trial.

How is that worse? That's no different than what they've been doing ever since McConnell came to power. I am willing to bet not a single witness testifies.

My understanding is he needs 51 votes for anything as there is no VP as tie breaker in a Senate trial. He has to take up impeachment as in he can't ignore it. However the GOP could file a motion to dismiss once the House sends the articles over. That would mean no more than 2 defections. Collins is probably a no to dismiss at this point given her upcoming re-election campaign. So Itch needs Murkowski and/or Mittens to vote with him and I'm guessing he's not going to put himself in a situation where he has to rely on Mitt freakin Romney to not embarrass him. :D

Collins is with Mitch as long as there is still time to primary her. Once that is relieved than she'll flip. It's entirely based on the calendar at this point.
