POTUS: Definitely Needs Anger Management

Re: POTUS: Definitely Needs Anger Management

Impeachment isn’t going to win back Wisconsin, Michigan, or Pennsylvania. I’d guess it has less than 50% support there.

Depends. Take a look at this latest A+ poll from Marist:
http://maristpoll.marist.edu/wp-con...Marist-Poll_USA-NOS-and-Tables_1912131159.pdf

Look at the pages. The people you need to court are women. WOmen, women, women, women, women. Especially white suburban women who are college educated. They have (my quick estimate) a departure of something like 10-20 points on things like climate change (but not carbon taxes), college loan forgiveness, health care (but not medicare for all), wealth taxes, gun control (and this one is especially big, 30+ point departure for suburban women form men), AND they support impeaching and remove the president by +20.

If you look at page 48, you'll see where you're right. The midwest doesn't care about impeachment. (Though, I'm a bit confused by the "Oppose/unsure impeachment and support removal" answer...).

Pound the pavement on the issues. Candidates shouldn't even mention "impeachment". They must focus on the issues. If they're asked, immediately pivot.

Re: POTUS: Definitely Needs Anger Management

Obviously it has to be done, but i think it’s a loser politically.

I’m convinced he’s going to win re-election, otherwise polling for impeachment would be 60%

Polling FOR impeachment is higher right now than it was re Nixon during Watergate at this same point.

Nixon didn't have a propaganda network brainwashing a third of the country 24/7.

And yet, support for impeaching Trump is higher than it was for Nixon.

But it has a ceiling much lower than for Nixon. 33% of the country will never, ever support impeachment because they are completely in the toilet with Fox et al. They have no connection to reality. They are unreachable in a cult alternative reality.

This is good and it needs to be the message all over the country.

1. The Republicans are going to cheat. That is a given. Without cheating they cannot win.

2. We must be ready and we must work 10x harder than we ought to have to. We must counter them at every turn.

3. If they actually get to the point where they start killing us rather than letting us vote, or they just start burning our votes and misreporting the results, then we will deal with that. Keep in mind they are capable of that; in the meantime keep working and keep organizing.

4. We are on the side of America and America, once it has its act together, will always beat the living sh-t out of Nazis.

Fig 1. The End of Mitch McConnell.

Imagine if a couple billionaires donated $50 million each to this campaign.

we're kind of saying the same thing. Anyone who needs to see polling numbers north of 60 or 70% to feel that impeaching Trump is justified is living in a fantasy world. Those numbers are never gonna happen. But the numbers in favor of impeaching are not bad, I fact they're extremely good, given the headwinds they're sailing against.

That those numbers are this high, at this short a period into the process, are pretty striking.

Everyone that isn’t a moron thinks impeachment is justified.

The problem is it’s only polling at 50% or so. Half of us are okay with Trumps conduct. That isn’t good.

Impeachment wasnt done to win them over. They will be won on the issues and on getting their lazy butts to the polls.

Funny...but 33% seems to be less than 50%

67% is greater than 50%.

Who cares how low the ceiling is I care what the majority think. 50/50 right now is not a good sign for a President who is claiming conspiracy and has an acquittal in the bag.

While the sentiment in this is spot on, it ain't 1961 anymore. If the electorate acted now like the world worked then, trump never would have been elected in the first place.

Re: POTUS: Definitely Needs Anger Management

Sane Americans rightly revile McCarthyism.

Sadly, 80% of trump's supporters have no idea what you mean by McCarthyism or who you would be referring to. And the 20% who do know who Joe McCarthy was support the 5h!t that happened then just like they support what trump is today. The real villain in all of this is the extent anti-intellectualism has destroyed the average American's ability to think critically. My dad was uneducated, dirt poor white trash. Thank God he was born in 1930 and not 1980.

40% sees nothing wrong with his conduct and 10% thinks it's a waste of time in spite of his misconduct. There's your 50/50

In hindsight, it did hurt at first, but helped in the long run. There was a LOT of hurt going through that whole process of protests/riots/etc. However, the payoff was worth it.
