Too many Americans are fooled into believing that the republicans are minding the store because a handful of them have said Roy Moore should drop out of a senate race. I hope Roy Moore wins in Alabama because we need all of the misery we can heaped on as many people as possible if we expect the American electorate to wake up. The republican party is a cancer on the nation. All of it, from the dog-catcher in Pike County Ohio all the way up to the head of their party, currently residing in the White House. It needs to be obliterated but unfortunately to do that you need to disenfranchise about a third of the voters, because all republican voters see anymore is the little "r" next to the name.

The worst part is American going down in flames isn't going to fvck just Americans. We deserve it. We allow a system that elects trump and will re-elect a republican congress in 2018. The people of the rest of the civilized world didn't get a say though. Sorry rest of the world. It appears we have too many people who hate gays, love guns, and who make less than $20,000 a year who believe millionaires and multi-billion dollar corporations need another tax cut. So just want to say sorry BEFORE the mushroom clouds over the Korean peninsula pop up...

Because the Dems are corrupt. Their leadership is the same 1% who bribes the GOP to do The Heist.

We need to recapture the Democratic party and make it a genuine leftist party. We need to restore the Eisenhower era tax rates and to grind down the very top while raising the bottom. In short, we need a country where there is social and economic mobility and the possibility that if you work hard and have something to offer you achieve the American Dream.

America is young but as it ages it falls into the same traps that created a permanent overclass and underclass in Europe. We are being pulled by the power of money to the same plutocratic rut that made all those Europeans emigrate in the previous 300 years.

A “genuine” leftist Democratic Party will not be great in the long term, outside of a better energy/environmental policy.

I support a liberal government in general, but I don’t to see us spend our way into oblivion.

What we really need is twofold:
1- An end to the instituionalized corruption that gives the 1% exclusive access to governance. It’ll probably take a century, if that.
2- A return to idea that we can have different beliefs and be on the same team. The GOP needs to realize that being left of David Frum doesn’t mean that you hate America. The Bernie Bros (and all college sophomores) need to realize that everyone right of Josh Barro isn’t automatically a racist, misogynistic, Muslim-hating xenophobe. Moderation through cooperation, because no party has all of the answers and this tribalism is stopping us from seeing it.

What you were trying to write is tough to articulate, but I agree with the sentiment. We should agree on the major issues, and I think for the most part we do. The petty stuff has obstructed us from tackling the important issues and at some point that needs to change.

I’m pretty confident at least 80% or so is on the same page. The problem is the current setup much more than individuals. I would contend that the majority of the people who ‘support’ the tax plan are ignorant.
