So far? Yes.

They both stole their election so that's a wash.

They both ground democratic institutions into dust so their fascist agenda could prevail. A wash.

They both stole (Dump is in the process but wants to) trillions from the public purse to funnel directly into their own, their friends', and their bribers' pockets. A wash.

They both aimed to suspend civil liberties and turn us into a plutocratic police state. A wash.

They both ignored science and pursued a bizarre fusion of oil company theft and religious wackjobbery as environmental policy. A wash.

But... Dubya started a horrific war, murdered several hundred thousand civilians in Iraq, and created the power imbalance that spawned ISIS and led directly to the Syrian civil war, which together have created millions of refugees, overburdened the west, and led to the burgeoning Neo-Nazi movements in Europe and the US.

Against that, Dump collaborated with an enemy nation in an act of high treason. Dubya's dad and Veep did the same during the GHWB administration but that's out of scope.

Dubya is far worse so far. Give Dump time; you know how competitive he is.

Trump routinely does things that would have had W in the mid- to upper-20s, but Trump sits pat at 35-37. The base of the party that would use reason to move away from someone like W has started falling for the "fake news" lines they're constantly hearing by from their Rush/Hannity/etc. shows more and more - repetition. So you have fewer critical thinkers in a party, and more people simply falling inline with the slanted news they're continually consuming. It moves the electoral and approval floors.

Not really. Bush just didn't go out of his way to unabashedly attack the left and liberals. Not just attack, but to do so in such a denigrating, condescending, and snarky manner. Trumpy supporters love that about him, and want to see more of it. That's what they like about him.

Cause he's just like them.

Yeah, W was the worst until Dump was elected. Now Dump is the worse. W did more overall damage so far but give Dump some time.

I would say W at his worst, in 2002 and 2003, had a far higher HAR (harm above replacement) than Dump now. Those years have been spectacularly harmful to the US in terms of carryover effects -- the worst since Reagan 1982.

Dump 2017 is probably the fourth most damaging year in US history since 1945, nudging out W's 2007 and 2008 economic abyss because Obama was able to save W by successfully mitigating its effects. I agree Dump has a tremendous ceiling and is a five tool as-sthlete (temperament, intelligence, honesty, industriousness, humanity), but short of a nuke war or another Great Recession it's hard to see him exceeding W's career HAR.

And stealing the SCOTUS seat. I know. If The Heist passes 2017 might even be worse than 1982 in the long run. But it hasn't yet.

I'm surprised Sarah Huckabee-Sanders can't see how bad of a job she's doing. Or in her case, she can't see how bad of a job she's doing and the snack machine.

I was joking. But I also don't think the NYT can credibly be described as pro-Nazi or even Nazi-neutral. I know exactly what they were trying to do by profiling a L'il Hitler fanboy. It was to demonstrate to their Very Concerned Readers in New Rochelle and Great Neck and Lawrence that these people are out there, are about as sad sack as one would expect, and, in true Times fashion, can be understood in terms of economic anxiety because deep down everybody on the planet wishes they were a Times reader, but is only frustrated by their lack of native gifts which prevents them from that achievement.

Growing up in Suffolk County I met a hundred people a week who think like that. They have the same type of delusions as neoconservatives do when they insist in Hoover position papers all anyone in the Middle East really wants and needs is a free market economy and deregulation! It's the same complete lack of comprehension of anyone below the Restoration Hardware Mendoza line. And the same "wishing will make it so" fantasizing that the world really doesn't have billions of entirely witting, furious, alien apes who would string all the humans up in a minute not despite but because we have good table manners.

I wouldn't go that far obviously but when they keep giving coverage to the alt-right, writing pieces like the one in question, and wrote something normalizing Hitler back in 1939 right before he invaded Poland, I think it's fair to come down hard on them for it. Admittedly not everything they do is harmful and they write plenty of good articles but there's a perfectly valid reason for the backlash on this one and the publication in general. All the good articles in the world don't make up for that I'm sorry.

Something usually effects them personally. Or the person does something so dumb he goes from a winner to a loser. Hell just repeat something enough and a good portion will buy it.
