My cousin's 5-year old daughter is autistic. She is also a Kamala super fan. It's so adorable. For Christmas, she picked out Madame Vice President socks for me. I put them on two minutes before Kamala Harris was sworn is. And I'm not going to lie, I cried for a bit, watching history in the making. Such a wonderful inauguration ceremony. Lady Gaga's overly poofy ball gown skirt didn't even bother me. And thought Jennifer Lopez did a great job. I sang Amazing Grace with Garth Brooks before he asked me to. I'm letting out a sigh of relief. Now he needs to get to work.

Really enjoying the CSPAN feed of the inauguration and now the after as the invitees leave. No commentators. Just background audio listening to the big reunion and happy people all around the capitol.
 
1. Gaga's anthem was perfect. When she turned around as the song pondered if the flag was still there, I teared up.
2. Love Amy repping the U of M. Very nice.
3. Why is Ted Cruz there? Fuck that fucker.

5. Didn't expect Garth to be at a Dem inauguration. I figured country music was through-and-through Republican.
6. Love the mall decorations. I also loved Brian Williams' suggestion that the memorial lights next to the reflecting ponds become a permanent monument.

I agree with Brian Williams. That should be permanent.

Sounds like Biden is going to have quite the day De-Trumpifying. Killing the Pipeline, Re-entering the Paris Accord and the WHO and stopping the Wall.

And did I read right that the leader of Iran wants us to re-enter the Iran Accord?
 
As the platform party was leaving, I saw the flag for the Space Force. Can Biden close that branch down? It was such a vanity project for tRump. Or do you guys think it should stay?

He's an old school Republican who doesn't seem to have fallen for the Rush Limbaugh/Newt Gingrich bullsh**. And he's been very progressive with his music and beliefs.

Additionally, all of older country (from the '60s through 2000 (Fall '01 is when more MAGA-ish country started to take over)) is progressive when you dig into the lyrics a little deeper than just a good bass line and a catchy verse.

The entire inauguration was amazing.

Once Lady Gaga and the national anthem blended into the pledge-we were both crying- my wife (who is a minority) told me that she feels that she is part of the country again. When J-Lo came out, strutting with confidence as any good Puerto Rican should, it just got better. BTW, her spanish message was about pretty much liberty of all of us- One Nation, under God, with Liberty and Justice for all. Maybe you have heard them before. Just not in Spanish.

The address- so, so very powerful. Massive meaning, massing healing, and lots of messages about keeping us all together.

The poem was spectacular- and I'm not a poetry person what so ever. Wow.

And the benediction was beautiful, too.

There's no doubt about that. I still love Outlaw Country. And remember when the rubes took "Okie from Muskogee" as being sincere? Biggest self-own in musical history.

Yeah I mean look at Willy and Dolly. Not to mention the late Kenny Rogers. (and Cash who crossed many categories)

To them if they have conservative beliefs it is monetary not socially.

Actually...I did have my feed cut a few times while watching the event on the CBSNews app. No EBS messages, however.


I'm curious about the timing of everything. Since this is the first time I've been able to watch a new POTUS be sworn in at the time it happened...

When talking heads discussed Trump using his pardon powers, he had up until 12:00PM EST today to use it. Pres. Biden oath of office completed at 11:52AM EST today, and everybody referenced him thereon out as President Biden. Did we have roughly eight minutes of time where we had two active presidents? What's the rules there?
