POTUS 46.10: A New Hope

This is exactly the idea that I've tried bringing up around here several times over the past 6-8 months.

But I get told that others see more people taking cruises so people clearly have cash to burn. Or that the blame just gets pushed onto "corporate greed" and that I need to be angry at the mega corporations. I get that, but there is also no visible solution or help available on that front. That's the issue. People just deflect the narrative of those that are feeling the pressure because it hurts THEIR narrative.

Yes, the economy is doing great. But it really is starting to feel like a bunch of people who own homes saying that homelessness isn't a problem since THEY don't see homeless people on their block. People are feeling the crunch and it very well could come back to wreck the D's ticket in 12 months unless things change and change soon.

Pretty sure even prices for groceries have been dropping. The MSM was even talking about that the other day. (and how that doesn't help Biden somehow)

I do enjoy your idea that all of us have no friends that don't own homes and we are all just sitting on our porches laughing at the whining of the unwashed masses while sipping high end scotch or something. Nevermind that I am a teacher/bartender who currently has 3 jobs just to make ends meet...what would I possibly know about how the Average Joe lives? I mean sure my 76 year old dad can't afford not to work because he lives on Social Security and my mom is unable to work due to disability issues...obviously we are just living high on the hog baby!

Or...

Maybe things aren't as bad as people think they are. Sorry but again if things are so bad and people can't afford the basic necessities why is spending up? And no I don't mean "why are they spending more dollars" because that could be argued as being due to Inflation...volume of sales is rising too! TSA is warning everyone this could be one of the most heavily travelled holiday seasons in quite some time. Black Friday and Cyber Monday and Small Business Saturday were all huge boons even the Negative Nancies admit it. Sorry but that doesn't square with the "OMG WE ARE ALL BROKE!1!1" mantra I hear from some people. It isn't like the deals were that great so how exactly does that work? And it isn't just me and my rich (hah!) friends buying things either it appears to be across the board.

There are disturbing economic factors that are worthy of the gnashing of teeth and the ire of the average voter but the price of gas and groceries is not it I am sorry. You wanna whine it costs too much to own a home or buy one...trust me I got your back! Want to tell me that the Fed is screwing up every quarter with the way they deal with Inflation and interest rates I will carry you on my shoulders so you can shout it to the masses. But if you want to pretend that the price of eggs is some sort of indicator that things are worse than they seem I will kindly point you in the direction of the courts and show you proof that this crap is all because a bunch of rich corporate phucks are squeezing our teets dry. It is happening all over the place...they don't even hide it.

Look, I dont mean to sound like a pr!ck (I am quite good at it though ;^) ) but I am just tired of this. Our inflation rate is lower than most if not all of the Western World these days yet they aren't whining nearly as bad as we are. Everyone is blaming the Dems for it but no one can articulate exactly what Biden can do to fix the problem. He can't force the Fed's hand, he can't stop companies from gouging by waving his hands. And I am sorry but anyone who risks putting the GOP back in charge isn't worth the time to talk to. Blaming the Dems for what is happening is so out of touch it is mindboggling. If you have a job but aren't getting paid well enough to live how is that the fault of the Dems and not the company you work for? Some people just dont see the forest from the trees.

The issue is that almost no one is acknowledging the problem you mentioned: Corporate Greed. And when it comes up, it just gets brushed off.

People point to the graphs that show that the economy is doing well and just shrug their shoulders. The Dems have a perfect opportunity to scream from the mountain top that these mega corporations are bending America over the kitchen chair. They have a perfect enemy to blame things on, but choose not to.

That is where the frustration comes from, cause I know we WILL lose votes as a result. It feels like I'm just being brushed aside because I make enough to not need public aid, but I also don't make enough to just swipe the charge card at the grocery store without thinking. This is how Rs make gains.

Most Dems won’t talk about it because they know who is buttering their bread. Clinton is partially why we are where we are with those stupid capitol gains tax cuts.

But as a team, we all need to get past 2024, and let the Rs rupture and blow up before going full progressive. One more election.

We also need to get past whiny Bernie and toward serious AOC.

I think another issue with our economic situation is that it doesn't feel good to many/most people. Numbers are confusing (and the right wing media is going crazy whining about the economy and the non-right wing media is just pushing drama, real or imagined), but what is not confusing is that food costs more than it did a year or two ago. I have friends who have to budget far more carefully than they did pre-Covid. And who gets the blame and credit for how the economy is and how it feels? The guy on top.

So things cost more. Salaries haven't risen to match. You have the media telling you either it's TEH WORSTE!1! or some watered down version of that. Yeah, everyone has a job, but that's a low bar...

I've had a theory for while:
a moron can understand a zeroth-order function. Position. Something exists.

An average person can understand a first-order derivative. Speed. Something is moving. It's still quantifiable.

An above average person can probably understand a second-order derivative and quantify it. Acceleration. Its speed is now changing.

A well above average person can probably understand a third-order derivative. Jerk. Its acceleration is accelerating. I think most of us get this or at least could figure it out.

Beyond that, thar be monsters.

Anyways. Most people have at least a half-baked understanding that inflation is the cost of something moving. But it seems that few understand the difference between decelerating inflation and just... inflation.

The average dumb**s also wants prices to go back to where they were in 2019 and doesn't understand why that's really bad and the fed will do whatever it takes to prevent that.

It's not just that we have low inflation relative to the average country, but we have incredible real GDP growth to boot. We just saw last quarter revised up to 5.2%. Outside of 2021, we haven't seen 5.2% since 2000 and before that it was around '85. So twice in my lifetime.

The problem is the knuckledraggers keep electing lobbyists for the plutes. If margins went back to 2019 levels we'd probably have real wage growth that would be as good as we've seen it since the boom.

"The 3 payments of $1,380 that occurred in Sept, Oct & Nov of 2018 — nearly 2 years after Biden left as VP — were actually for a 2018 Ford Raptor Biden had purchased that Hunter Biden was using, according to an email verified by a Post forensic analysis" https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...=wp_main&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter

Guys...Hunter Biden bought a car 2 years after Biden was out of office! How can we allow his dad to remain in the White House knowing that?!

Wait. Explain zeroth-order function again?

You are doing exactly what the Wash Post is (or just being their willing mouth breather), creating plausible deniability. Just a car loan. Riiiight!

El Chapo can't buy $100 million dollar homes in legit countries, even though he is one of the wealthiest people in the world. Using the same logic as the car loan story, YOU (and the Wash Post) would say that he is just a successful business man, while glossing over the rest of the details, plausible deniability.

Where did the money come from that Hunter paid for his "car loans"? Ford Raptor's aren't cheap, so a regular every day guy like Hunter would have to take out a loan, correct? Then why did he pay cash for a $142,000 Porsche Cayman? No loan from Joe for that car? Or will we be seeing more personal checks for "loan payments" being reported by the Wash Post? **

** Wash Post once had headlines the laptop was Russian Disinformation, now they are quoting its contents. Can't make this $hiite up.

That is so very much worse than how Jared secured over $1B from the saidis. No question about that, right chucky?

A purchased truck is so horrible compared to getting a billion from another country in a manner that isn’t the normal business that you are in.

Sigh.

It’s so telling how chucky and jebs have no problem with the money that their worships kids have generated- they are ready to have him as dictator. You guys are pathetic.

I will let Chuck answer for himself, but once again, you are being disingenuous and playing 3 card monty again. Hunter had NO legitimate product involved in his business. Zero, none, Nada. So what was he selling to gain him the $40+ million?

When is the House GOP going to subpoena Ms. T. Fairy for unreported cash donations made directly to Hunter Biden in the '70s?

Do you get Tooth Fairy (can we still says this??) money for teeth that fall out because of meth and crack use? There again with Bidenomics, is $40 mil the going rate for baby teeth these days?

The Guild, which asked readers not to engage with The WaPo's content to show solidarity, saw some support from President Joe Biden. I'm told that the White House, Biden campaign, and Democratic National Committee all refrained from engaging with the outlet and elevating any of its content.

Despite all that as soon as the strike is over they will go back to telling us how awful he is and why he will lose to Trump.
