Remember when Cheney, er, Dubya made privatizing SS the centerpiece of his second term agenda despite everybody on the planet telling the GOP that was a death wish? And remember how they were forced to walk it back weeks after announcing it before their entire party imploded?

He won't walk it back, but the click-bait headlines will do it for him.

He doesn't understand what entitlement programs are. Entitlement to him is likely "the poors" programs like SNAP, Medicad, unemployment.

What he doesn't get is that Social Security, VA care, Veteran retirement, federal retirements, etc. are also entitlements.

It's why he'll say "I won't touch Social Security," and in the next breath says he's cutting "entitlements."

Why if we pay taxes to pay for it is it an entitlement? Seriously. ***? That's a stupid name. I am sick of the Republicans getting to label everything.

It's not socialism since it isn't really a wealth redistribution program. That's what Republicans used to argue anyway.

It's not socialism because rich people get more back than poor people just the way Jesus intended.

If we matched payouts purely to needs, didn't have insurance or a dedicated (and capped) special tax but just took payouts from the general fund, and had universal access, now that would be socialism and bad because the rich would pay more in taxes and fewer poors would die. If Jesus wanted the poors to live he'd have given them money like he did with Dump.

Yes. It's not an entitlement if were paying taxes for it and the tax is capped on the first 120 or so thousand made. It's the opposite of an entitlement.

It's as if he's intentionally trying eff over the majority of the country. He makes it harder to want to move back full time I cannot lie. If he's re-elected his damage is going to last decades.

I am not 'young' but I have encouraged mum les to apply for UK citizenship- her parents were both Scots and emigrated. If she were to be a UK citizen then I could be too. Never thought I would be so totally disgusted at being a citizen of the US. This ain't the country I grew up believing in
