  • Stalin -- a push. His murders came from his paranoia and the drive by an absolutist state to silence all dissent. The ideology of the state was ostensibly Left but with Putin we see the same thing as Right.
  • Hitler -- Rightwing authoritarianism. All the hallmarks of the Right: racism, misogyny, violence, militarism, the cult of the flag. All of Hitler's deaths -- the entire WW2 theater and the Holocaust -- are Right.

Kep, I give you credit for responding, and basically admitting you agree with most of what I said. We will sadly have to agree to disagree on Hitler, which (once again) is based on the FACT he was a Socialist. Nazi = National Socialist German Workers’ Party. I mean, it's right there in the title. It's not like it's really all that debatable, actually.

But we've made some progress today, so I'm not going to be unappreciative, and wear out my welcome.

That, my friends, is called "grace". More of you should try it once in a while. Used to work wonders.

I'll finish with the usual cartoon just to remind you folks who's the "authoritarians" these days ...

When you follow The Golden Rule, this stuff doesn't have to get in the way. We certainly didn't make the "new rules" ...

I think you confuse my laughter for something else entirely.

You are a deeply unserious person. You "argue" in bad faith. You constantly misstate and distort facts, or ignore them outright.

One of those distorted, or more likely and intentional neglecting of, facts is that the Nazis started as socialists. They were when Hitler joined, but as he rose to power, he discarded 90% of the Nazis’ economic agenda in favor of government-corporate capitalism. He used the power off the States’s purse to push businesses to adopt industrial initiatives in line with his own desires, giving the business owners’ great wealth via profits on sales they would then make to the government. In addition to that, he gave them slave labor from the concentration (“work”) camps. While he did allow some pure-blood Germans to receive the dole, they were often shamed if not old or feeble.

It’s funny how the Grifting Old People’s party can’t make it past a legacy name to see what the facts of history have to show them in terms of actual deeds performed.

I patiently await Chuckles explanation of how it was the Democrats who fought to keep slavery, but we can't eliminate any of those old Southern Civil War memorabilia like flags and statues because *gestures wildly* reasons.

The Nazi regime had little to do with socialism, despite it being prominently included in the name of the National Socialist German Workers’ Party.

Is that supposed to be hurtful?? Jeez, you better pay closer attention Swannie, Kep just admitted I was mostly (I say entirely) correct. I don't have to play your game by your rules, so get over it. Deal with it, you're an adult(?).

I tellya, sometimes coming on here is amusing ... and sometimes I leave with the feeling that someone on here is gonna open a vein and bleed out, given the level of misinformation and propaganda you lot have swallowed hook line & sinker, and how sensitive you are to criticism that you think nothing of doling out to others. A lot of you are outwardly critical of traditional religion on here ... yet you've woven yourselves an incredibly bleak and bitter collection of thoughts and beliefs that (ironically) act as your own secular substitute for old-style religion. Congrats!

I thought Vietnam was more capitalist than the US now. But I haven't really been paying attention.

The CCP is really the type of state capitalism Dump, Bezos, Musk et al want: completely unhinged, unregulated development with no regard for the environment or human rights, but for the benefit of a very small and strictly gatekept elite, and all backed by the overwhelming coercive power of a totalitarian surveillance state. Society as an Amazon warehouse.
