You post a lot of stupid and useless things and but this might be the stupidest and most useless. And I am sorry for the harshness of this attack, but come on Drew. Be better.

It does not matter that trump or any of the other fascists might occasionally behave as a normal human being (and of course this ONLY happens when a photo op can go along with it). You do realize that his hardcore MAGAt supporters are not moved by things like this anyway because they simply don't truly care about their fellow human beings or civilized society? Things like this are the MOST cynical thing the fascists and authoritarians do, because they hope it appears to normalize them for the 10%-20% of America that is not yet lost to the fascists and could be brought back into the fold of decent, caring citizens. Probably people like you Drew.

It's likely the wise first impression to at least wonder about the sincerity of ANY politician when they take part in photo ops that show them as caring human beings. Yes, plenty of them probably mean it. I'll go so far as to say pols who I have grown to respect, like a Jimmy Carter, absolutely DO mean it, but I can accept that even people like George W Bush or Ronald Reagan or Hillary Clinton sometimes realize there was and is a greater good and something bigger than them. But that ain't trump, and it never will be. He is a cancer, a 5h!t stain on the sheet of humanity. The sooner his obesity takes him away, the better off we'll be. Trump has never done a decent thing in his life simply because it was the decent thing to do. Don't be one of those 10%-20% who fall for that kind of bull5h!t. I still have hope that you're NOT one of the 30%-40% who are already lost to the fascists and are now the enemy of people like me.

He was totally gonna but the other kid was bigger and the sun was in his eyes and there was nothing to charge either of them with after years of investigation but wait that doesn't allow him to pass off the responsibility for his own failures onto someone else like a petulant child so let's ignore that last one.
 
More evidence of the "big tent" approach taken by the Left - the historical fascists BTW (Mao, Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, etc. ad nauseum) responsible for the deaths of literally tens (if not hundreds) of millions over the last century - where tolerance is only granted if you pledge allegiance to their entire Leftist agenda, all of the time.

No worries, Drew - I'm not always the biggest fan of DJT myself (regardless of what others say, he hasn't even earned my NH primary vote yet) so I get where you're coming from. Adults like us work through their differences, whilst the cult of the Left tolerates zero (0) straying from the emotional plantation of their secular Woke religion.

Chuck, here's reality. Not that I expect you to read it.
  • Pol Pot -- absolutely a Leftist and his murders derived absolutely from authoritarian Leftism. This is a fair cop.
  • Mao -- absolutely a Leftist. Many of his murders did derive from authoritarian Leftism. Most (the famines) came from bad management, but I'm willing to add them to his count as a Leftist.
  • Stalin -- a push. His murders came from his paranoia and the drive by an absolutist state to silence all dissent. The ideology of the state was ostensibly Left but with Putin we see the same thing as Right.
  • Hitler -- Rightwing authoritarianism. All the hallmarks of the Right: racism, misogyny, violence, militarism, the cult of the flag. All of Hitler's deaths -- the entire WW2 theater and the Holocaust -- are Right.

Extreme Left and Extreme Right are the same in the end.
 
Yeah, I don't think the horseshoe theory makes any sense. Kepler has it right. It's a different dimension entirely on one characteristic rather than ideology.

Stalin was also an anti-Semitic conspiracy monger and an anti-intellectual.

China today is what the Soviets dreamed of. An almost-perfect surveillance state thanks to modern tech, with a blended economy heavily under CCP control (or outright CCP-owned), and a thin veneer of red paint and Maoism. Vietnam is also rapidly going down that path as a Beijing satellite.

Russia today is what America would be after a couple decades of Trump.
