POTUS 45.65: I'm Just Here For The Lincoln Project Ads

Dump is about five words away from screaming "n-gger, n-gger, n-gger!" at the top of his lungs.

I wish he would. He'll have another covid party, I mean rally soon enough and I wish he would drop the N word there. The ovation he'd receive would be thunderous. I guarantee it. Americans need to see it and hear it. They need to be beaten over the head with how racist his supporters (and a huge swath of this country) really are. I still see too many people who don't get how bad the problem is. Like some of the republicans against trump ads say, it's either America or trump, and everyone that opposes the bigotry and the division need to see just how bad it is. Maybe enough will wake up then and really vote to put things back on a better path.

I saw those tweets this morning and I'm just flabbergasted. Who is removing equipment? Are people coming in overnight to do that? I just find it so mind boggling.

If you haven't already, and even if you won't really use them, everybody go out and buy a couple of books of stamps.

I think before everyone goes out and blows their savings on stamps, a little thought and investigation is due. This story shows the true power of social media.

The original story came about as a union head was asked about cuts in overtime to try to save the postal service money. In responding to those questions (as the union leader she was understandably upset about wage and overtime cuts), and as an aside, she said something like "they've even removed equipment which has made our job harder." The interviewer asked about that and the clerk said that one sorting machine, in Waterloo, Iowa, (where the clerk works) had been removed.

There was no follow up as to why it was removed, and I've seen nothing that suggests that equipment has been removed in other locations. Maybe the machine was broken. Maybe it was scheduled to be removed. Maybe Trump himself removed it to steal the election. Did they ask the postmaster in Waterloo?

But suddenly this one act has become cause celebre.

I said buy a couple of books. That's $22. Hardly your life savings. As for removal of equipment, sure, maybe it was just that one post office. But you cannot deny that Trump literally said he's blocking funding that the post office needs because he wants to prevent mail-in voting.

Thanks, we can read more deeply on this and see. I can certainly imagine a story like this getting blown up because it fits the narrative that Dump is sabotaging the USPS.

But let me ask you a couple sincere questions, since you are one of the few brave souls who actually still stand and Fight for the Right against a huge majority here on the Forum out for blood (with me holding one of the biggest pitchforks):

1. Do you think the current administration is behaving differently from past ones?

2. Do you trust this administration to oversee a fair election?

3. Are you worried that they wish to steal it, independent of whether they can effectively steal it?

4. Does this alarm you?

I mean these questions honestly, and I don't intend to come back and try to attack or refute them. I want to know what a conservative voter with a brain thinks about this administration's intentions re: the election.

If what Hovey says about the removal is true, he raises a valid point.

Agreed.

Nazis also did normal sh-t like pick up the garbage. Not everything is the Warsaw Ghetto.

By the same token, the fact that they did normal sh-t did not make them not Nazis, either.

I was being facetious about the life savings, although honestly, postal stamps might be as solid an investment as there is right now.

There is no doubt that Trump has said many, many things that show he would love to be able to steal the election.

But there is also no doubt that the issue of postal service funding has been around for a lot longer than Trump, and as I recall, Congress even gave the postal service extra money as part of the Covid package.

Could I be wrong about what's going on in the postal service? Sure. Could Trump and the Republican party be raiding post offices in the middle of the night stealing machines to steal the election? Sure.

But here is what I say. I've seen no evidence of it. I drive by my post office every day. I still get my mail. I don't think it's as fast as it used to be. But somehow my utility bill and my credit card bill and everything else still seems to find its way to me on a regularly monthly basis, and fortunately my check mailed back to them seems to arrive.

Run a test. Write a letter to your mother or another loved one. I'm sure they'd love to receive a letter from you. See how long it takes to arrive.

If it doesn't arrive, maybe we have cause to be concerned.

I also believe dump will try (or already has) to weaken the PO's ability to support mail in voting, and Ds have to both fight that and use it against him in the campaign. But I think we can do that and be loyal to the facts. There is enough reliable evidence out there to roast that clown.

Somebody should follow up on the machine-removal report.

You're aware that Trump said he's specifically blocking funding the USPS needs to handle mail-in voting but yet your Pavlovian response is still, "Nothing to see here" like a good little soldier.

One of the first and easiest things we can do if we sweep is to make Election Day a national holiday. That will make it significantly harder for the Nazis to stop people from voting in person in future elections.

One of their greatest weapons is disenfranchisement. When the Dems had the Dixiecrats they did the same thing. Intimidation, trickery, fraud -- anything to prevent people from voting. 100% of the electorate -- even cons -- should be revolted by those actions. They should be as illegal and as obsolete as slavery. There is no justification other than pure coercive force for partisan aims.

The business of elections should be completely separated from the people who stand for election. That is obvious.
