Re: POTUS 45.63: This Thread Gets Better Ratings Than The Super Bowl

I’ll gladly admit I froth. When one person causes the deaths of many innocent citizens through deliberate lies and reality warping, I will froth.

I still say that the Washington Monument would be a great hanging post for crimes like these.

And again, one merely says "Trump" or related and people are chomping at the bit, and not seeing the context

That’s not true, and a few people have repeated this, but clearly you’re not able to see it- are you frothing? ;)

I don't know if that would work for a hanging post.

As a spot to throw someone up against for a firing squad, absolutely.

Yeah, that worked so well for the midterms.

Sharpen it.

The Dems can hammer him back on the economy (it wasn't rosy even before #19), health care, social security but if they're smart stay away from trying to cover illegals at least. Take the wind out of his xenophobic shrieking.

Re: POTUS 45.63: This Thread Gets Better Ratings Than The Super Bowl

Yeah, that worked so well for the midterms.

Well he has nothing else. He cant run on health care cause he will get trounced. He cant run on the economy because outside of the Dow Ponzi Scheme nothing in the economy is working and his weak *** attempts to try and revive it show he has zero clue how to fix it. He cant run on unemployment because his mismanagement of COVID-19 put more people on unemployment in a month than the Great Recession did in a year.

All he has left is to take the full Hitler turn. Biden is beating him and he showed in the Primaries that unlike Hillary he inspires people to actually want to vote. He may not be the brightest bulb, but compared to the haphazard crap that we see at the daily briefings Joe at least can act the part.

Trump has two choices...go full Hitler or hope the virus sprouts up hard in the Fall and then postpone the election. At this point even Wagging the Dog with Iran isnt working

(this is of course as of today...things always change but Trump demographically is in all sorts of trouble and he knows it)

Re: POTUS 45.63: This Thread Gets Better Ratings Than The Super Bowl

Am I the only (other) one who has never heard of this?

Tons of people make the mistake so I'm guessing no.

It's definitely in the top ten of Misheard Lyrics for idioms.

Card shark (sharp)

Baited breath ('bated, as in "abated")

Free reign (rein; it's a horse, not a king)

Tender hooks (tenterhooks)

Wet your appetite (whet like sharpening a knife)

"Jerry-rigged" is an example of a mistaken idiom which became its own accepted phrase from brute force repeated mistaken use. Jury (no relation to a legal jury) and rig are both seamanship terms I learned as a tyke, so jury-rig makes perfect sense for "half-as-sed". Jerry-rig has no derivation at all, but it's so common everybody knows what it means, which is the definition of language.

Well, yeah. Everyone knows what "chomping at the bit" means, too, but I'd lose a corner off my Pedant Card if I didn't point it out. :)

To be fair, Rudy is too busy trying to **** his cousin to think about that.
