There is the belief that an Impeachment, even if unpopular, would be an achor around his next come 2020 if it is timed right. I go back and forth on it. On the one hand I think it might make him a sympathetic figure to some (and tick off some of the voters the Dems need in key states) but on the other hand he will kill all sympathy with his anger tweeting and attacking. I mean it would be the troll move of all troll moves. If he has the reaction he had yesterday to Mueller testifying can you imagine his reaction to Impeachment? He literally might go full Hitler on the bit...

What sucks is Impeachment is the right thing to do. But if it loses you the WH in 2020 is it worth it? That is a question I cant answer no matter how much I think about it.

Where I would be upset is not over impeachment which won't lead to Chump's removal by the Senate, but if upon losing re-election there aren't prosecutions of him and the people in his administration. While its true that Ford pardoned Nixon for any and all crimes committed in office, and Chump may do the same for himself, many of Nixon's toadies got sent to the clink for a few years. That absolutely needs to happen in 2021 after the Justice Dept is fumigated of all cult members.

I'm a little that way too, but if impeachment loses the WH in 2020, it's a no-brainer for me. There is too much at stake.

Now if the impeachment process causes dump to completely lose it, ensuring a D victory in 2020, that would be excellent. But playing for that knowing impeachment might mobilize R votes is a big risk. Ds should be able to work their azzes off and beat him without impeachment.

My thinking has been wavering but it comes down to this:

1. We don't know what the electoral effect of pursuing impeachment will be. For every argument that people will feel it wastes time there's an argument that it will catalyze sporadic-voters who finally see the Dems doing something because it's right and not politically calculated.

2. It's right.

For me, 1 makes it a toss-up so 2 is the tiebreaker. If anybody can demonstrate to me that the expected value of pursuing impeachment is negative then there's no tie and I'll be against impeachment. But as long as it's an unknown, let's try doing the right thing for once. It's good for the soul.

Oops, sorry, I see you did. I had read about it originally as a Russian TV prank editing the emblem, not that it was actually on the presentation itself.
