In the short term, yes, Idiocracy. But with social services starved by Plute welfare and military spending we're gradually getting back on the Darwinian train after a brief hiatus. It's homeostatic. As the hayseeds vote to slash social programs they disproportionately die without offspring. Republican policies kill Republicans faster than Democrats because Republicans are less capable -- dumber, more ignorant, more disease-ridden, more violent, less cooperative, less flexible, less ethical, more superstitious, more afraid.

The problem is they are diminishing with an extremely long half-life. Ten thousand might die every week, but another 9750 turn 18 and another 9500 are born. And look at the damage a minority are clearly able to do. Racism is perpetuated not because 90% of us are bigots, but because ENOUGH of us are.

Yes but the Dump era is also a renaissance for those of us who want to eviscerate them. Look at how much better the Democratic field is now from just 4 years ago. The center-point in the Democratic party during the Clinton era was what Delaney is now. The ancients (Biden, Pelosi) are still stuck in that rut but almost everybody under 40 has had enough. We're not just cowering before the racists and misogynists and Plutes anymore, we're going on offense. We're not just trying to limit the damage while keeping the world safe for Terry McAulife's centrist Dem millionaire friends in McLean. They are going down, too.
The 40-year retreat of the Democrats from our economic principles ended when Bernie brought Occupy back into the party. Those people are the future, not the Plute Quislings who have controlled the DNC and the media for the last several decades. Tweety's dead, and Kos isn't feeling too good himself. The Young Turks are the future.

When reading from a teleprompter, trump has an even more pronounced Mussolini affect where he speaks with his head tilted back. It's evident even when he speaks off the cuff and moreso depending on the topic, but when he's attempting to read those big words others have written for him off the teleprompter, he looks like he's about ready to break out into full Il Duce mode. And of course it's fitting, as we are no longer drifting towards fascism but lurching headlong in to it.

When the first rube told me that they could see supporting trump because he was a brilliant businessman and wicked smart, my response was anyone who thought he was of anything other than average intelligence they did not know the difference between smart and stupid. 2 years into his presidency I am even more convinced of this and actually believe him to be of something less than average intelligence.
