My experience of you has been a moderate conservative who refuses to acknowledge that the GOP has become a fascist, undemocratic party, who will vote R even with misgiving because (fill in the blank for whatever the dumb Echo Chamber smear of the Dem is that day -- BUT HER EMAILZ!!!). joe without the deeper levels of theological syphilis.

If that's incorrect and you're a DLC Clintonista -- Rover with better grammar -- then I apologize. Now don't get me wrong. Your time is over, too, and you being p-ssed at AOC means exactly nothing to how she should conduct herself, but presumably when real liberalism gets a foothold again in this country, even though you don't trust it can, you'll be able to comprehend it's a good thing.

I just agree with Pelosi on her last comments. I'd love to see AOC succeed, however right now she's going about it in the wrong way (no, I don't like the NGD, the way that it was proposed; that is a separate discussion). Learn from people like Pelosi and Amy K on how to get things done.

Here’s the thing, if AOC gets what she wants, I consider that a win. Even if I disagree with her methods. I prefer the Franken Model. Quiet, nose to the grindstone. But if her method also works, fine. I’ll take what I can get.

That being said, I have a few serious disagreements on some of her positions.

The GOP is dead to me. I grew up GOP, and have long since abandoned them (or any particular party). I go with individuals, and don't bother to look at the letter, for the most part. Some members of the letters do buck the party they belong to. I'm not angry with how AOC is conducting herself...I would say "disappointed." I think (maybe even KNOW) she can do better, I'm blaming it on a learning curve, for lack of a better phrase. While I'm not liberal overall (yes, I am now Dr Obvious ;) ) I do have some liberal views on some subjects.

There's nothing wrong with AOC dragging the Overton Window slowly back to the left (and thereby, the true center, not the country club patricianism of the American center). It couldn't have gone much further right without making a straight-arm salute acceptable again.

When you've spent 40 years losing the war, it's probably time to drop some d@mn bombs.

Don't tell Rove. He's a-scurred. "Well, yes, fascism is about to engulf us, but don't rock the boat too much. My god, stock prices might dip!" :eek:

What we should do is discuss this quietly for the next 20 years or so. Who knows, maybe Hitler will just blow over? Musn't make those rural white males uncomfortable...

I'm actually glad she's out here *trying*. It's a complete 180 from everything the GOP has done in the last two (plus) decades (destroying the legacy of 44 just because he was a well spoken black man not withstanding). The GND was an actual thought, a Moonshot, a target. Instead of saying "you know what, that may not be achievable, but fu** it, let's try," it was met with thumbs down, raspberry tongue noise, and hand in armpit noise by all GOP and long established Dems.

For God sakes, let's do something productive. Aren't we on Month 27 of Trump's "Infrastructure Week?" And that hasn't produced jack-schitt.

Instead of just meekly trudging along, head down, "Yeah, lets do what the Republicans want, but maybe just tweak it around the edges a bit, or maybe add an amendment to add 50 million for job retraining or something".

You're always going to get blowback. That's what the Republicans do, to cower you and get you to submit to their will. Have you not been watching Red Don the last two years?

No matter what AOC, or any Democrat does, no matter how sensible and moderate the proposal is, the Republicans are gonna demonize it and attack, call it Socialism, loonies leftist policy, whatever.

You can cow before that, and not do anything(as Dems have done since Clinton, and even somewhat even then), or you can stand and fight to do something to make this country better.

We all can see where you stand.

The right will always have a large number of authoritarians. That's part and parcel of the right wing view of the world: everyone's trying to hurt me! I need to hold on to my stuff and accumulate more! If belief in the fake father in the sky falters for an instant everyone will just rape and murder! (God knows what projection is going on in that last one.)

What's changed is that thinking people have abandoned the right so all that's left are the authoritarians. They haven't "moved to the right," they have simply driven every person capable of thought away from them. So of course the remainder are more confident, more loud, more violent. Those things all come from being more stupid, and the more stupid comes from their purge of people of even normal intelligence.
