POTUS 45:50: Crooked Hillary Clinton. The Real Collusion!!!!!!!

You people out in the Midwest ought to be eagerly supporting such measures, given what's been going on the past couple weeks there. Instead, you're just blithely dismissing it as "ridiculous"
I am on board 120% with it. And I know my employer could easily intertwine into all aspects of the new deal keeping me and 200 other construction engineers employed for the rest of our careers.

And it annoys me to no end when the FOX talking point residents here in the suburbs vote against efforts like this.

Re: POTUS 45:50: Crooked Hillary Clinton. The Real Collusion!!!!!!!

But i'm also aware that it can't all be done in the next 20 years, and that adding more and more debt is not the answer.

Maybe it can't. But there's nothing wrong with stating that as a starting goal. Kennedy said we'd put a man on the moon in less than ten years, despite not even having a rocket that could get out of the atmosphere. You set your mind and money to doing something, and you'll be surprised in what you can accomplish.

And we don't have to add to debt to do it. That would be a choice. Make the hard choices. Get it done. Elect people who will do both of those.

Obama passed a healthcare proposal straight out of the Heritage Foundation, and Republicans have made it their sworn duty to eradicate it ever since. If they can't get behind something like that, they'll never do anything regarding climate change. So do it without them. Either get on board, or just be quiet andleave it to the people that will.

Re: POTUS 45:50: Crooked Hillary Clinton. The Real Collusion!!!!!!!

I think the idea that "midwesterners" don't support it en masse is kind of ridiculous. Sure, the knucks in the midwest don't, but they don't represent the midwest as a whole. I think most of the Minnesotans, and the smart Sconnies and Iowan on the board support it. I think Sic is the only one who bucks that trend.

Which reminds me. I think it's time to bring back the political thermometer thread for 2019. Or whatever it was called. I'll find it.

Re: POTUS 45:50: Crooked Hillary Clinton. The Real Collusion!!!!!!!

You used smart, and referenced Sic. I think you're giving too much credit.

Re: POTUS 45:50: Crooked Hillary Clinton. The Real Collusion!!!!!!!

So if dumpy is suing for defamation, when will we see Obama sue dumpy for the same? Fair game, as I see it.

I'm sure there are a sh+tload of liberals who salivate at the thought of being sued by dump for defamation, given what is relevant and discoverable. Funding to defend such a lawsuit would not be a problem.

Re: POTUS 45:50: Crooked Hillary Clinton. The Real Collusion!!!!!!!

So point of interest. Im not in the midwest. :D

I agree in whole that we should fix infrastructure, reduce emissions, have single payer healthcare, have higher universal minimum wage, eliminate coal, be energy efficient, etc.

But i'm also aware that it can't all be done in the next 20 years, and that adding more and more debt is not the answer.

The problem Kep, roofie, etc are having is the notion that Dems and knucks think alike. So, the trick in their mind is to just out-radical the Nazis and we'll achieve some sort of progressive nirvana state where nobody works for a living except for free down at the thrift store or the vegan co-op and only then because they really want to.

The problem is that Dems are the party of education and the notion that you should have some plan actually matters. That could very well be taxing the rich, which 99% of the party seems to be in favor of in some form or fashion. However, if we aren't kicking the doors down of everybody pulling in over 50K a year and taking everything that's not nailed down, apparently we're really centrist corporate sellouts!

The funny thing is the very people advocating huge wealth redistribution (which does need to happen in some form) are the very ones blowing money on frivolous shiny objects (2nd homes, new cars, Pelotons, etc) instead of actually using their good fortune to help out the underprivileged.

Re: POTUS 45:50: Crooked Hillary Clinton. The Real Collusion!!!!!!!

Bring it forward, meaning drafting the document in the first place.

Why can't we start with hearings? And find things that can be done now where both sides agree on it? All Things Considered interviewed Lamar Alexander, who proposed his own green deal- which was a LOT of the Green New Deal. Why should D's be like R's and rush things through as opposed to fully understand the problem, and find solutions that work for the most people all the time?

BTW, 99% of the infrastructure problems can be traced to tighter budgets caused by R tax cuts. Just like school funding. Undo those economy killing tax cuts, and we will have a system that works, again. As we have seen for many decades now, D's pay for their proposals.

The people who act like it's ridiculous are completely ignorant of history.

Prior to the Second World War, the United States was cautious with regard to its manufacturing capabilities as the country was still recovering from the Great Depression. However, during the war, Franklin Roosevelt set ambitious production goals to fulfill. The early 1940s were set to have 60,000 aircraft increasing to 125,000 in 1943. In addition, targets for the production of 120,000 tanks and 55,000 aircraft were set during the same time period. The Ford Motor Company in Michigan built one motor car (comprising 15,000 parts) on the assembly lines every 69 seconds. Ford's production contributed to America's total production of vehicles totalling three million in 1941. American production numbers caused the US employed workforce to increase massively. America's yearly production exceeded Japan's production building more planes in 1944 than Japan built in all the war years combined. As a result, half of the world's war production came from America. The government paid for this production using techniques of selling war bonds to financial institutions, rationing household items and creating more tax revenues. Some contribution to the US wartime manufacturing boom can be ascribed to the prior creation of the Alcoa plant in the 1930s. The Alcoa plant prepared thousands of tons of aluminum used for the production of 304,000 aeroplanes during the war. The United States quickly adjusted to the levels of production required to equip its military with the millions of war products used during World War II.[35]

Because after years of Republican obstruction, the time to act is now. Even then, we may already have missed our chance.

And there's nothing that Republicans would agree to that will actually have any tangible effect at solving the crisis. Or even mitigating the effects somewhat.

Bull, do it right, or don't do it at all.

BTW, this did surprise me- https://www.npr.org/2019/03/26/7069...dress-climate-change-without-the-green-new-de

He actually believes in human caused climate change. With an R next to his name. He likes solar, he likes modern/safe nuclear, sadly he still like burning gas- but it's at least a start.

Trade wars are easy to win.

https://www.nbcnews.com/business/economy/trump-s-tariffs-are-costing-americans-1-4-billion-each-n987336?cid=sm_npd_nn_tw_ma

President Donald Trump’s trade policies and tariffs reduced U.S. income at a rate of $1.4 billion per month by the end of last November, according to new research from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Princeton University, and Columbia University.

We find that the U.S. tariffs were almost completely passed through into U.S. domestic prices, so that the entire incidence of the tariffs fell on domestic consumers and importers up to now, with no impact so far on the prices received by foreign exporters,” the Fed, Princeton and Columbia economists wrote. “We also find that U.S. producers responded to reduced import competition by raising their prices.”

Epic Democrat fail: no collusion, no obstruction of justice

Epic Democrat fail: no collusion, no obstruction of justice

democrats spent over two years of political capital and now US citizens know the point of it all was to de-legitimize the Trump presidency
Trump approval rating moves higher

But it's a really good, smeary talking point for a guy from the only state in New England who can't even elect one Democrat at the Senate level. :p
