They were surprised they had a cabbie from India originally who voted for tD (he must have been THE one here in Cali that did )

He probably hoped Trump would deport all the Pakistanis. The woman in the office next to mine is a second generation Afghani refugee who voted for Trump and wants every Muslim in the US deported (she's Hindu). People from that part of the world play for keeps.

I have a fairly large contingent in my family of Indians by way of Guyana. Four generations now. All are muslim, some non observant, many devout. Those I know generally abhor Trump. Though I've never heard any of them say it, his choosing Netanyahu as as one of his inner advisors (or is he cabinet level?) probably doesn't help.

This is the problem I am having with the press corps covering Donald Trump. It feels like we Americans are caught in a story with two unreliable narrators. On one hand we have Trump and his administration who we know perpetrate exaggerations and falsehoods with depressing regularity. On the other hand, we have the press corps covering the Trump administration which is far too often guilty of the same.

It worries me that Trump is demonizing the journalism industry to the extent that he is. His comments that journalists are the “enemy of the American people” were reprehensible. Inappropriate in the extreme.

But the press does not help themselves when they get big stories like this one wrong.

Expect the unexpected. The highly educated female sibling and her Native American spouse -- voted Trump. My former "jarhead" US Marine buddy (I hope he's reading) voted Clinton. They were both sure I'd have voted for Johnson (I abstained). The candidates this time around appealed (or not) on far different levels than usual.

There is so much wrong about Trump's Immigration Reform I dont even know where to begin. The fact that he basically gave ICE carte blanche though (anyone they deem as a "threat" can now be deported) is just wrong though.

If only Flaggy wasnt a fraud he would be all over this. This is the stuff he (pretended) to fear...

Posse Comitatus specifically excludes the National Guard as long as they are acting under state authority in a law enforcement capacity within its home state or in an adjacent state if invited by that state's governor.

Are they really acting under State (not Federal) authority in this case?

But, as I said, I don't like what I consider de facto US military forces acting as US law enforcement. It was wrong when GW Bush did it; it was wrong when BH Obama did it. It's still wrong.

This is weirdly true. I was talking with a local contractor about this last week. We live in the least populated county in MI (Keweenaw) where 99% of the sheriff's work involves snow and ice-related mishaps, and snowblowing disputes between neighbors Ed and Fred. Once in a while a dog lost to wolf attack. It's so homogeneous and staid (where it's developed at all) that our largest minority population is Sasquatch.
Yet my friend was given a look into a "warehouse" that is chock-full of riot gear, battering rams, body armor, night vision, "tank tracks" etc. etc. you name it, that the sheriff has absolutely no use for... but they can't get "homeland security" to stop sending them stuff.
It's completely bizarre.

At least indirectly. You can thank the Southern Poverty Law Center for a lot of that, and also looking to install sheriffs that don't believe in the Constitution, such as Spokane County WA.
