Why is that so hard to discern. I would really think the GOP would have more than what Meadows, and Jordan have cobbled together with their band of idiots.

Jim Jordan is That Guy -- the ringmaster who spins up a fantasy backdrop and then demands everyone else react to that rather than reality. He seems to be pretty good at it. There's at least one in every Congress. Newt was one of the best.

He's doing what Ted Cruz thinks he can do but really can't -- creating the frame through which the audience views the proceedings. It's an important role because it emphasizes or buries different facts depending on its agenda. Every prosecutor wants to be able to do it and it's what much manipulative political rhetoric aims to do. He's a good craftsman (albeit a dingo).

Fox News was created specifically so that if another Nixon came about, he'd have a reliable mouthpiece spreading an alternate reality. This administration is essentially judgement day for their 40-year plan.

Fox will repeat it a thousand times. The real networks will pick it apart n the first 15 seconds and then leave it alone.

Except for some of the charges, he is bringing actual proof that it happened.

People knew it, now it can be proven, and impeachment hearings can start.

Exactly. The genius of Roger Ailes was the recognition that if he just had a network that lied to people the way they wanted to be lied to they would turn to it (and its advertisers) over the truth.

He realized that truth, to the right wing reptile mind, is secondary to reinforcement of prejudices.

For the short time I watched, that is so very true. Such little to go on, and very easy to be ready for.

And some of their statements are not terribly coherent. I have to give Cohen credit- he understood what was being asked- whereas I could not follow....

Generally speaking Members are not very smart. When they say or quote smart things it's because a smart staffer brought it to their attention and then carefully trained them to vomit it back up.

But that only works for the first couple sentences. Once you scratch the surface they have very little below it. Some of them know things because of their prior careers (maybe law, or perhaps they sold used cars or some such). But again, these are not smart people -- kinda by definition if they are able to resonate with the average person they cannot be very smart because that would scare them off and/or anger them.

Mrs. Miller is a real winner. I have a meeting in 8 minutes so I have to bow out. I'll be watching the news later and this thread for updates.

Mrs. Miller is from West Virginia. No ****. Where the **** else would she be from?
