POTUS 45:47: I Never Said There Was No Collusion!

Re: POTUS 45:47: I Never Said There Was No Collusion!

Ugly question I've heard asked on local media:

If Mueller has the goods but hasn't turned them over, doesn't that make him either (a) inept, or (b) a co-conspirator with Trump?

Knowing Mueller is neither, I'd say that Mueller doesn't have anything that rises to impeachable.
Let him finish, but calls for "impeachment" at this point seem misplaced.
If Mueller had the goods, we'd know.

Impeachment is a process. Don't conflate the process with an outcome (removal from office). Mueller is only necessary because congress doesn't have the backbone to do what is right. There is certainly enough out there to warrant going through the process and seeing where it leads (of course, if it turns out that the process reveals enough to warrant removal from office, the republicans in the senate would still never vote to convict because they're treasonous *******s.)

Re: POTUS 45:47: I Never Said There Was No Collusion!

Does anyone have any idea of the demographical makeup of the 800K Government employees effected by the shutdown?

I'm curious how many are R's (and will possibly consider flipping to a D or Other in 2020). I get the large scale effects in play, but am curious if this will make a dent in the hardcore R that takes Trumpy's words as gospel and fully believes in this. The direct cost/loss that is in play here.

It's a really good question. Demographics vary widely between different departments so we couldn't just extrapolate from the entire Federal government. We'd have to know the mix. Typically, the low educational (and income) end of the federal government mirrors the US population because you're talking about people who are just happy to be working anywhere. As you climb the scale of education it gets more and more Democratic, at an even faster pace than the US population, because of self-selection: when you hit high level managers, scientists, researchers etc. who can have any job they want, the vast majority who choose government (I'm talking 90-95%) are Democratic because they believe in the mission. Insofar as there are highly intelligent Republicans they gravitate towards business and money and thus away from government.

I would not be surprised if the furloughed workforce really is mostly Democrats. But the districts where furloughed workers are are not necessarily. There are towns like McLean, VA which are whiter than Aryan Nation, Idaho and still have the sniffy country club Republican Judge Smails self-regard, that are probably getting hurt by the shutdown. The populated portions of MD and VA are right f-cked. This isn't endearing them to the GOP.

If my job centered around making fun of idiots, I know that I'd follow Infowars, too. It's be like panning for gold in a slow moving stream!

This is a really, really good point.

Is the TSA sickout on 1/29 for real? Never saw a good source on that.

I haven't seen anything about a specific day.

If I were going to organize it I'd pick a Friday. Strand all the business travelers and make their companies pay the hotel and per diem for the extra days. That would get the attention of some very powerful interests very quickly.

And which of your local channels/papers are asking that? The ones owned by Sinclair Broadcasting?

Re: POTUS 45:47: I Never Said There Was No Collusion!

NPR had a story about the restaurants around DC being affected. One food truck who relies on tourists and workers has seen sales drop 75%. A bakery whose sales are mostly conferences and birthday parties is down 30%, and the cupcake shop down the road is down 50%. They’re talking about cutting hours, meanwhile they’re receiving applications for work from the very people they rely on as customers.

But their kids will thank them later once the wall is up and the government is destroyed. Just ask the trumps

Re: POTUS 45:47: I Never Said There Was No Collusion!

The only way you could be mistaken would be if there was evidence Mueller had collected which you haven't fully analyzed. And, really, what are the odds of that?

Hey, when I want insight into what Mueller is doing, I always look to Sicatoka to fill me in! (then I expect the exact opposite to happen ;) )

Re: POTUS 45:47: I Never Said There Was No Collusion!

I get that burd, but if Mueller has the proof of "high crimes or misdemeanor" and hasn't put it out there he's either ...

Like I said to Kep either Mueller has "it" and doesn't know (let him finish), or he doesn't because I can't see Mueller as inept or a co.

If Mueller knows he has it and has been sitting on it to make the perfect case (when perfect is the enemy of good enough to prove) and in the process allow the Country to grind down, bad on Mueller (inept). And Mueller's not inept.

We've been over this.

If you go for il Capofamiglia, you'd best have all your ducks in a row, and not miss.

Re: POTUS 45:47: I Never Said There Was No Collusion!

Just heard on MSNBC that Manafort apparently lied while he was cooperating. So, that's got the Government asking the Judge to sentence him as if he never cooperated. Hearing 15 years for him. Judge set a February date to hear the details but the thought was the Judge usually goes with the Prosecution on stuff like this.

IMHO if he gets a stiff sentence the rats will start jumping ship. Yes there's always a G Gordon Liddy in there who wants to be a martyr for the cause but when you start looking at a decade in prison my guess is they're stepping off that ride first chance they get.

Re: POTUS 45:47: I Never Said There Was No Collusion!

From MSN: BREAKING NEWS: Trump expected to make shutdown announcement; may endorse bill to reopen government. Details to come.

Well, as long as the State/Federal thing stays separate and Dump can't pardon state convictions he along with everyone else is toast. Republicans want that to change and it's in the Courts now.

Why are those the only 2 options?
