Re: POTUS 45.45: The Wall or a Shut Down. Your Choice Pelosi!!!!!!

Some could take Trumps recent moves as a shift in a positive direction - funding the govt, getting out of Syria and the Crime bill. But I have little doubt that each is very self serving in the end. And Ill will post why.

1. Funding the Government till Feb is a trap to try and get the Dems to shut it down somehow.
2. Getting out of Syria is stupid. If you're going to do that why not just leave Afghanistan too?
3. Crime Bill is one of those things that had so much bipartisan support it's own inertia carried it to the finish line.

You're definitely on the right track.

1. The wall. Dems need to be blamed for the governments inability to get the wall done. Now there's no excuse.
2. Syria. Syria placates Putin. Keeping Russia at bay is the reason to be there. I wouldn't be surprised if the idea came from discussions with the Russians.
3. Crime bill. Gun sentencing is reduced significantly. The NRA will be pleased.

I guessed. Your answers are better.

Van Jones, and pretty much every person involved in getting this bill passed, completely disagree with you on this.

Does it surprise anyone that the fed has raised interest rates 4 times since we enacted tariffs? Not me.

In addition to using terrible socialist government planning to reward uncompetitive industries and reduce consumer spending, it drives raw material pricing and that of any products that rely on it through the roof.

Wait, wait, wait. Lemme get this straight. Doing something that cause prices to go up too much will cause the body whose main job is to make prices don't go up too much to do to main thing you do to make sure prices don't go up too much? Whoa, mind blown.

I dont care what he says, we arent leaving Syria. There will be some soldiers brought back as a show for the media but when 2020 debates are happening the Dem candidate will be asking why the troops in Syria still arent home. If he gets super desperate he will drum up some BS about an attack (or possible attack) and delay and hope people forget.

Oh geeze. I'm shocked. Putin has come out in support of Trumps Syria withdraw.

vlad is seeing dumpys world crumbling around him, and I would not be shocked to find out that he's leveraging what he knows about dumpy to get our troops out.

It's amazing to see so many pre-election predictions come true. Some that many people here who claimed to not be dumpy supporters found excuses for.

Does anyone else remember the debate over the Clinton Foundation and the Trump Foundation? How people thought the Clinton's were being criminal, but thought the Trump Foundation was so much better? And two years later, one foundation is still going strong, the other one just got shut down due to legal issues (that may not fully be over).

Or the debate over dumpy people talking to the Russians, and how it may not have been legal to wire tap them, and there's no way things like that happened- and now we have ANOTHER person fully and freely admitting in a court of law that they broke the law. Yes, the law was about lying, but given who they were talking to, well....

Or the whole drain the swamp thing.... that goes so deep into the filling of the swamp.

Where are the apologists now? What excuse have you told yourself to think that this is still ok?

Re: POTUS 45.45: The Wall or a Shut Down. Your Choice Pelosi!!!!!!

Regarding the wall, the senate passed the stopgap bill without the wall. The house has many more extreme members and they or at least the 'freedom' caucus is balking. They expect today to be a rocky road. Complicating matters southern Republicans said they will vote against it because its not loaded with disaster aid for the southern states.

The wall? Cash for the southern states? All of which will be debt. Call me slow, but I'm still trying to figure out what happened to the tea party and fiscal responsibility.

I dont know enough about this other than the "wakes up yesterday and demands the return of the troops" seems awfully suspicious. No scale back, no hand off, just pull up the tent stakes and walk away.

I will say that Ted Lieu made a good point on Twitter: the US approved the use of troops for the War on ISIS; not a humanitarian effort, not as a defense against Putin. But he did also point out that the immediacy of the withdrawal is very suspicious.

And correct my history and geography, but didnt Putin need Syria so he could build his oil pipeline?

Re: POTUS 45.45: The Wall or a Shut Down. Your Choice Pelosi!!!!!!

Also saw that Mitch McConnell has agreed to a partial funding plan to push off the debate until February.

Just in time for the Dem controlled House to be blamed when the inevitable shutdown happens.

Can we stop already with "Mitch McConnell - legislative genius" talk? The guy was dead set against the sentencing reform bill until Trump privately threatened him to bring it up for a vote...or else. Like the sackless wonder that he his, Itch immediately rolled over and fetched for the President on command and even voted for a bill that he hated out of fear of Chump's wrath. Hardly seems like a guy in control of his own mind, let alone the Senate.
