POTUS 45.44: "That's Not Law" said Trump

I mentioned an immigrant, and you automatically assumed he was white, given the country of origin. Hey, did you know that Dave Matthews and Charlize Theron are Africans? Your prejudice showed brightly in your post. It doesn't matter what nation, color, whatever. Go through the process. That's my stance.

And Dave Matthews and Charlize Theron would have an easier time of being legally allowed to stay here than Nelson Mandela, given the current political climate.

If he's not white, just say so. Quit playing petty power games on an internet forum.

Quit being prejudiced.

That's what he does. Not worth it anymore. In the Flag bucket he goes.

Rufus made a definite statement. He did not ask the details. He did not ask the context. Prejudice shown.

Immigration is easy. Send the statue back to France.

I will post this again on this Board.

There is only one correct solution. Everyone gets in. No tests, no applications, no immigration background checks or anything else. No different than moving from Minnesota to California, which is essentially like moving to a different country anyway.

You have to abide by our rules and laws. If you want to work and you don't have a ss#, you apply for a taxpayer id # no different than a new company would.

But if you want to be a citizen, if you want a ss#, if you want the right to have a say in what our rules and laws are, then you must go through the process to become a citizen.

It is the moral thing to do, the human thing to do. It is the economically smart thing to do since it is becoming more and more difficult to find employees, and it will only get worse as baby boomers die off.

So long as any of you accept some form of restriction on the right to enter and live in this country, you are at least partially responsible for the conduct of this country at our borders as on display, whether you vote (R) or not. Once you agree some form of restriction is acceptable, then you've opened the door to those restrictions being used to keep out "undesirables."

That would be the right thing to do. Which means America won't do it.

Re: POTUS 45.44: "That's Not Law" said Trump

Q: What are you most thankful for, Mr. President?

TRUMP: For having a great family and for having made a tremendous difference in this country. I’ve made a tremendous difference in the country. This country is so much stronger now than it was when I took office, that you wouldn’t believe it. And – I mean, you see it, but so much stronger that people can’t even believe it. When I see foreign leaders, they say, “We cannot believe the difference in strength between the United States now and the United States two years ago.”

Narcissism for the win.

Few would accept this and is probably loaded with unforseen problems. But that's a super cool stance.

I actually agree with SJ with a caveat or two:
If you have a felony conviction before you get here you don't get in.
If you are a non-citizen (didn't become one after arrival) and are convicted of a felony you're deported.

And if you read the end of his fifth paragraph, he's being very "Chamber of Commerce" (Rs) minded. And he's tacitly trying to keep SoSec from tipping over: there aren't enough payers to keep it afloat.

The problem (why it can't happen) with SJ's very sound plan?
Tacitly he makes US citizenship a requirement for voting. (Read his fourth paragraph closely.) That will never fly with some on the political spectrum.

It's called making a logical assumption based on demographics. You know what demographics are, right? If I'm mistaken or wrong, prove it. Or just shut the fuk up.

Just as I can assume that since you're from fly-over country, the majority of your friends and acquaintances are lily-white. Simple demographics

My only "problem" with immigration is that I'd actually favor no population growth at all (from an environmental perspective). Since our birth rate is likely lower than our death rate, then immigration to make up the difference is fine. Unfortunately our economy depends on growth.
