That answers neither of the questions I posed.

Why do I need to make a proposal? You seem to have got it covered. Your common-sense approach of doing what we already do, and trying to do things that will never ever see the light of day has completely solved the problem. Pat yourself on the back for how clever you are.

Here it comes.

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/11/26/gm-...ut-global-operations-monday-canada-union.html

General Motors to significantly cut car production in North America and stop making some models

General Motors will significantly cut car production in North America, Reuters reported.
A Canadian union said GM is set to make a major announcement Monday that will affect its global operations, including auto production at an Ontario plant.
Unifor, which represents most autoworkers in Canada, said it had been informed by GM that there would be no product allocated to the plant in Oshawa after December 2019.

THey will also focus on electric demand- that will **** off the toddler in chief

Re: POTUS 45.44: "That's Not Law" said Trump

How do they focus on electric when the Chevy VOLT is one of the cars being cut?

"As GM goes, so goes the nation..."

I believe the Bolt is already out-selling the Volt. People want all-electric

Re: POTUS 45.44: "That's Not Law" said Trump

For the record, the plants being shut down are:

Lordstown, Ohio -
Chevy Cruze (Only production facility. Cruze hatchback only made in Mexico)

Hamtramck, Michigan -
Cadillac CT6 (Only production facility)
Buick LaCrosse (Only production facility)
<strike>Cadillac ELR (Only production facility)</strike>
Chevrolet Impala (Also made in Oshawa, Ontario)
Chevrolet Malibu (Also made in Fairfax, Kansas)
Chevrolet Volt (Only production facility)

Oshawa, Ontario -
Cadillac XTS (Only production facility)
Chevrolet Impala (Also made in Hamtramck, Michigan)

So in total, three plants shuttered, 15,000 employees laid-off, and the end of <strike>six</strike> five different car models (Cruze, Impala, Volt, LaCrosse, CT6, <strike>ELR,</strike> and XTS)

MAGA is in full bloom.

The problem (why it can't happen) with SJ's very sound plan?
Tacitly he makes US citizenship a requirement for voting. (Read his fourth paragraph closely.) That will never fly with some on the political spectrum.

Concern troll sounds concerned.

Re: POTUS 45.44: "That's Not Law" said Trump

I actually agree with SJ with a caveat or two:
If you have a felony conviction before you get here you don't get in.
If you are a non-citizen (didn't become one after arrival) and are convicted of a felony you're deported.

Are we going to start deporting everyone who's already here who has been convicted of a felony, including financial crimes? Maybe we can see if Australia's got more room.

I really don't understand the whole persecution thing for people who have at some point in their lives committed crimes. You commit a crime, we prosecute you, you do the time. But then you start over. That's kind of the whole point. Why does everyone insist on being Javert?

Umm.... recidivism? Convicts do tend to re-offend.

Starting December 31, new tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump on auto parts from China will hit carmaker profits, cut sales and threaten to "start a downward cycle" in the critical industry, analysts said unanimously.

And GM is closing 4 plants as a result. But then, Obama helped GM, so of course Trump has to ruin it.

This will have a similar long-term effect to auto manufacturing as the Cash for Clunkers initiative in 2008, but different causes. Either way, we'll see the quantity of new cars sold plummet and the price of used cars tick up a bit.
